"Oh Baby" and "Girl" both sound like almost-there type productions where he felt they didn't measure up to standards like "Do Me Baby" etc so he tossed em to The Time to release them anyway.
You are cracking me up spreading all your misinformation around on this thread. This is what happens when fams go TOO DEEP into Prince biographies and don't realize how inaccurate a lot of them are. |

I would have to disagree. As a musician, the first 2 albums sound rushed and for the most part the songs are half-baked.
Besides the very few classics that are on the first two time records, the last two are vastly superior.
half baked? ICC is corny and has 2 tracks that are interludes stretched out over several minutes. Pandemonium is a hot mess and would have been more satisfying released as Corporate World.
I'm not bothering about commenting on the musicianship, because I have to enjoy the songs to even notice that quality of the musicianship.
I liked Panemonium, but it would have sounded a LOT better if it could have made up it's mind whether it wanted to be a Time album, or a Jam & Lewis album. |

The fuck are you talking about? I haven't spread any misinformation around. Instead of making retarded little ad hominem attacks like this one, why don't you crack open that head full of knowledge you apparently have and correct some of the interpretations in this thread?
PS. I don't read Prince biographies. [Edited 5/18/11 17:58pm] |

I did remember Jerome being in the video because I saw it on BET long time ago. And he WAS in the video to "Cool". I guess he was an original member but it's strange because there's seven guys at the Grammy picture and six on the back cover of WTII.

Jerome was in the video for Cool. So, my guess is he's been a part of the "band" from the very beginning.
Maybe the reason why he wasn't on the back cover for What Time is It is because they wanted to show members of the band that people would be seeing play the songs live.
That certainly would make sense... BTW does anyone recall if he was on Soul Train w/ the band back in '81 -- I think this may have been their 1st TV appearance

Yeah ya do. You are only denying it because I called you out on it. As for corrections, there would be no need to make any if people like you would stop making up stuff off the top of your head and throwing it out there without any factual basis for it. |

I said 2 things in this thread.
1) The Time's music was geared towards black radio. Truth.
2) I felt some The Time tracks were substandard compositions that Prince would not have released on his own. Truth.
Why don't you stop attacking me, hop off my dick, and focus on someone else now since you are confused. |

Nah, bro. I ain't confused. You've got multiple misunderstandings in your comments. All I'm saying is you don't have to reply to topics when you clearly don't know what you are talking about. It's ok to just chill and read threads sometimes. Really that's how you can learn something. [Edited 5/18/11 23:06pm] |

There's nothing to misunderstand in my comments. If anyone felt they misunderstood them, they would say something to me. They have not. With the exception of you. So perhaps the misunderstanding is your own. Thanks. Bye! |

Well, one thing is for sure.
The next time album (which has been recorded at various times over the past 8 years) will be almost exclusively "The Time" members. Prince does play some guitar from what I've heard, but it's pretty much their project now, unless Prince has a bad day and decides to step in and make it difficult for them to release it.
If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in. |
