All this album does is confirm crude racist stereotypes, I mean chimpout would have a field over this. Its all about sex, violence, rapping and its nearly all in idiom. It was a sad day for Prince. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

every time i see the title of this thread pop back up to the top, i feel like my brain is being warped full of holes. Creutzfeldt-Jakob style.

I agree with your statement. I think the Black Album is one of his worst. Just terrible except for Dead On It. I think the true reason he went straight to Lovesexy (one of Prince's last masterpieces IMO) was he and the label knew it SUCKED.
Golnigga is no masterpiece but it is a fun CD to play if you are in the mood for some great mindless, jazzy, funk and hip hop.

I've just recently discovered it for the first time. It's fun and so damn funky and I like the risque tongue in cheek humour!

the music is great. i just wish prince had learned how to rap a couple of years earlier than he eventually did (gold exp/come era) and did the vocals himself

This had a very limited release, correct? I got mine at the NPG store in Minneapolis. I don't think it was ever in normal "wrecka stows''. The songs came off better live in my opinion, same goes for Exodus, as Prince was much more prominent in the vocals. TRUE BLUE

Goldnigga's great - you can't fault the music. Another case of sheeple knobhead Prince fans going with the perceived flow and slating it. Fuck them.

Yes, it was rejected for distribution by Warners. The cd was then sold on the Act II tour of Europe and then at NPG stores.

I remember I bought mine at Borders about a year or so after the release. It was a slow burner for me...HATED it on first listen. It grew on me as a favorite.

Music on this album is funky as hell...
I'd love to get a version with Tony removed from the mix though... Just never felt his style..

I have been looking for GN for years, but I'm not willing to pay a car payment for it

I don't blame you, it's definitely not worth that. The only reason why I keep mine is for sentimental reasons. When I get over it, I'll look you up! TRUE BLUE
