Did Jason Mraz rip off 'Chelsea Rodgers'..?

Was listening to the latest Jason Mraz album (from 2008 already...), and I found certain elements from 'Butterfly' very similar to Chelsea Rodgers. Don't get me wrong: I know they're totally different songs lyrically, structurally, etc., but I do find the feel and arrangement of the chorus instrumental part very similar; so similar, that I somehow feel Jason was actually attempting to do a Prince homage.

Love both the Jason Mraz album and Chelsea Rodgers in any case.

Prince stole the whole groove from this over 30 years old disco jam :

Maybe these cats were "inspired" by the same source?

Yep, that opening is straight up a rip of Sticky Like Glue.

I was getting into it, ya know, until Jason started to sang....WTF???

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This would make perfect sense, as both Jason Mraz and "Chelsea Rodgers" are wretched.

I think I'm more curious as to how someone could listen to Jason Mraz. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but damn...

Ever heard "Geek in the Pink" or "The Remedy"?

Actually, he has an okay voice and he's cute as hell too...

Fuck yeah he is.

I also love his voice, though. I think it's playful and smooth and it compliments his laidback beach sound. love

- I cant watch the video right now, but Chelsea´s bass line has a lot in common with ´Around the world´ by Daft Punk.
