First Ave. Aug. 3, 1983 - best source? The recently released First Ave show from 1984 in soundboard quality has piqued my interest in this other historic First Ave show from the early 80s. Wondering which boot has the best sound quality? I have The Avenue (Moonraker) and I would rate the sound quality a 7.5. Does anyone know if the quality varies on other releases of this same show? I only have the version available on Sabotage's Purple Rush, and it's not that great, I think it is sourced from the circulating video, as is (I think) the Moonraker release.
Imo, you would be better going for the Fullasoul/Superball DVD release of the '83 First Ave show, it's called "Makings Of Rain," and is quite brilliant, and I have been told (on good authority) that it is probably the best version circulating of this show.
As for other First Avenue audio shows, 4DaFunk's "First Avenue '86" is totally essential listening, and in the very best quality available. Also, you should check out "First Avenue '82 V2.0" also from 4DaFunk. Don't get this mixed up with the original First Avenue '82 release, V2.0 is a much better version, and a great show.
That is all I can think of right now.
Happy hunting.

^Agreed.
I also think 'Makings of the rain' is the best source to date both for audio and video. | |
