What are your thoughts on this cover, I think its awesome, definitely one of the best Prince covers I've ever heard. It keeps the essence of the original and just tweaks it a bit to make it more modern. Both are so amazing I'm not sure which one I like best

It was almost a clone rather than a cover. The sample of the original track was a nod that even the hottest current producers couldn't get a groove as funky as that Linn. I liked how the TLC vocals gave the song a different point of view - as if sung to a guy rather than a girl.

I like my covers of songs to reinvent a bit more. But when CSC came out it did make me smile.

I agree, but Tboz just sounds sooooo sexy here . I would love to hear Prince duet with them on this track, the melding of both their voices would be eargasmic!

i like it...

I love me some TLC, but this song was a mistake. All the cleverness of the lyrics and the intricate phrasing was lost when it was sang by a female. It is all about how a guy is jealous of the relationship shared between 2 females. To my knowledge, it was the first time for that point of view. It became a song about a girl wanting to be a guys girlfriend. 75% of the songs on the radio are about that.

Yeah, there's nothing special about the lyrics when sung by a woman, it's just another 'i love you/you don't love me' song.

I don't know how TLC made it "more modern"--they did it not all that many years after Prince, didn't they?

I agree with Nouveau--this song sung by a woman to a man is bordering on pointless.

I much prefer their cover of "Get It Up". Now THAT'S how you cover a Prince song! (yes, it's a Time song, same difference, Prince's vocals are still all over the original and he played everything on it except for Fink's solo)

Poetic Justice is such a terrible movie!... She's called Justice, and she's a POET!

Get It Up was a superior cover to IIWYG IMO.
