Important Q about All Day, All Night I've always read and been told that the bootleg 'All Day, All Night' was recorded on June 7, 1984 Live. However, on listening to this live show it sounds totally different, ie. the vocals, leading me to assume that Prince re-recorded this song later or at least from a different show.
I know the song has overdubs etc but even accounting for this, Prince's vocal style is totally different on this live concert to the finished song itself. There's no 'AH-huh' at the end or those live sounding keys that are on the end of the track.
Any ideas?

I heard he used the birthday show performance as the base, similar to I Would Die 4 U, Purple Rain etc. [Edited 5/10/11 2:11am]

On the studio version you hear at the beginning Prince say Wendy wants to live for ever and then the whistle from the crowd as heard from the show. The basic track from the show was used.

Spinlight, play it now, its not just the overdubs what he sings and says is different, there is no shouted Uh-Huh that is on the other version. I had an old boot of this show and it did sound right - im wondering if he performed it twice that day and this boot has a different version?!
