Prince could mean many different things or nothing at all with some of the lyrics he sings. It's fun to hear everyone's opinions but basically we're all just guessing. imo Only Prince knows.

It's common knowledge that Prince is one of the worst interviews ever. And he once said himself that he'd prefer to let the music do the talking for him. That said, lyrics are all a Prince fan has to go by. And past behavior. Faithful isn't a word one can easily attach to him. PS. I can't judge anybody, but I can DISCUSS the fuck outta that shit!

Since I've heard his music, I have been a fan. It was his music, that distinct sound that attracted me in the first place. I still have that Prince radar. Even when I only hear some tunes in the distance, I will know it's a P song.
His seductive lyrics combined with the sexy tunes, just made me feel good. And a different times in my life, with different themes, there have been a variety of lyrics that reflected my feelings, thoughts and opinions. And therefore gace me solace or joy.
And ofcourse, I'm a fan, so the enigma around his persona, has fascinated me. However, in the end, I relate to his music during my life. And guessing about his life is fun, however, in the end, it's just his life. And his life isn't related at all with mine. So, why get all upset about it and get angry with the man? He's a star. He does as he likes. That's American culture. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Guys, in all honesty, way too much thought is going into attempting to explain this song. It's a fun, tongue-in-cheek slow jam that he really seems to enjoy singing. The two times I've seen him play it he seemed to really get into it, but at the same time, he wasn't taking it too seriously. It's like "Cock-eyed woman." The crowd always digs it too.
Regarding the lyric. Music is not poetry. "A-Wop-bop-a-loo-lop a-lop-bam-boom" sure as hell isn't poetry, but it's one of the most sacred lyrics in the rock and roll canon. It's all about feeling. Whenever Prince plays that song, the entire Forum gets into it. It's a good song.

Why are people so quick to tell others not to "judge" somebody just 'cause a non-positive opinion is stated? Don't you know compliments or any positive analyses are "judgments" too? But the latter is ok, right? Another example of contradiction. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee
"Water can nourish me, but water can also carry me. Water has magic laws." - JCVD

^ You are right. However, when it's just guessing about one's deeds, I withold from judging. When it's about music, than it's a matter of opinion and judgement, yes.
This is what I was refering to about not judging and jumping to conclusions when you don't know anything for real:
" A few years back, he wasn't gonna be made a cheater. Now he's flashing money in an effort to get some chick to creep with him. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I never understood why some people love to jump to believe everything a musician writes has to be autobiographical... it doesn't. Im sure a good deal of what he writes has nothing to do with how he actually lives his life or what he wants. Let the man have some fun and play around with provocative lyrics if he wants.. Change it one more time..

How is that a "new song"?
Just because he wrote down a couple of lines to sing to an already existing theme doesn't mean it's a new song, let alone that it could/should be released on a new album. It's just like the "Cock-eyed Woman" lines sung over already existing jams (Satisfied, f.e.).
A Song consists not only of lyrics, but also of harmony, melody, structure, sound and arrangement. All the did for "U Will B With Me" was write lyrics, the rest can be found in "Shhh" already.
On a different note, it sounds nice and fits the theme; I like it. But it's not a song or anything that would make sense on a new album, the way it was performed live.

it reminds me of "tell me how u wanna be done" .. its like an extension of "shhh" but not really a new song .. its fun .. i am just really tired of prince superficial materialistic bravado .. seems like a guy as talented as prince could pick a different subject than the worst rappers on the planet who shove it in our face every minute .. i do like it otherwise tho

I thought it might be a song to himself. That Prince is that other guy - going through financial hardship, and planning to make more money, and then he will add the girl. Just a thought.

I did hear that his true girlfriend sat the requirements for a 'brand new bed' for them to be together intimately, so you may be on to something.

C'mon gang. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Just as most of The Time's lyrics from back in the day - written by you-know-who - were about being smooth, flashy, rich, stellar in bed, etc etc -- so does this song. Big hoopee doo! It's just a song, and you guys are reading into like your his psychiatrist. Gimme a fuckin break.
But oh, now he's a Jehovah's Witness...blah blah blah. And that means what? He has no sex drive? Or he can't write a song about being brash, cocky, or even cheeky?
Some of you need to get out a lot more often. Close the laptop, get some sun, and get laid already. "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

Hahaha no, I give him a couple of more years before he's in that category (think Ron Isley), LOL! Trolls be gone!

When's the last time anyone's seen Bria? Who is Lala? The petite brunette? I'm totally lost here, LOL! But, at the 2/7 show at MSG it very much seemed while he was singing "Beautiful Ones" he put a lot of emphasis on "If we got married, wouldn't it be cool?" and he asked everyone in the whole stadium to point at Misty while he sang "Cause I want YOU"....wow, LOL. Also seemed like on Lopez tonight when he got down on one knee and said the marriage part again, it was like he was toying with her in a way. I dunno, seems like he'd like her to be wifey #3. Her name DOES begin with an M afterall, LOL! Trolls be gone!

Thanks, i didnt attend either show, so i have no idea how it sounds, but i beleive you mentioned, he intertwined it with The One, i guess that gives me some idea.
Great lyrics but....(yes i know i hates buts 2) that one line can be removed, i mean has P stooped there? im pretty sure he was jus referring 2 the fact he's a man of wealth, all women like that , but oh plz brotha, sounds just a little tasteless My OPINION is all "How Can I Stand To..Stay Where I Am? Poor Butterfly Who..Dont Understand." P

It is always entertaining to watch As The Org Turns. Some people think they know everything and yet know nothing at all. I swear some of y'all are koko for purple coco pops. Carry on with trying to figure out what is plain as day to see. Also I have to say it Misty is a friend and it's all about business people but you playing into it's more makes for good business Proverbs 23:9

Come on, dude has a history of these types of things happening where he's writing his life story in a song or things are playing out right in front of us....I dunno, it seems strange that Bria basicall vanishes as soon as Misty become Prince's new "friend" Trolls be gone!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
As I said makes for good business. Yes he does write his life like I said it's plain as day to see just check out the last few albums it's there. Let me ask you this if he is singin a song about u will be with me and you think it's misty by your saying they are together where is the need for such a song??? If he has her and is courting her for marriage as many would like to say. Where is the need for such a song???? It's business and friendship nothing more. The song is great and if it is about his life. The question is who??? Carry on Proverbs 23:9

- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You are correct.
bria came to one show. Prince has a bevy of women and lala is a dancer who I posted a picture of earlier. Some he is dating, others are for the picture.
misty is one amongst others. prince likes the fairy tale story of the prince and princess so on that accord, he is playing into the story. He's a great entertainer and knows how to do such on the imaginations of his crowd, but do not forget that he is also an artist amid his entertaining and artists speak truth.
