While watching the box this morning i noticed that during Jay-z and beyonces knowles new video(03 Bonnie and Clyde) that some of the lyrics were taken from princes old track "if i was ur girlfriend".It really annoys me when artists cant be inspired enough to write there own stuff and i was wondering if any1 else has stumbled across sum1 ripping off the funky1(yes,yes,i already know that arrested development ripped off prince but who else has?)

i wondered what part of that song was from if i was your girlfriend. jay-z got princes permission for it i think. cos he wanted a song with prince actually on it but couldnt get him so he did that instead. he says his last album will be his next and he still wants to work with prince on it.

is it just the lyrics that sample if i was your girlfriend cos a mate thought it was the bass too, i listened to it and it could be but speeded up.

Oh my god! I'd hadn't heard about this! I don't think anyone has mentioned this on Prince.org before! What a scoop!

Well I think it's a good thing. Younger artists giving respect to Prince. Prince's influence is all over the pop charts. It might even encourage the younger generation of fans to listen to Prince.

I cant see the younger generation listening to prince as most of them are zombies who love there Mtv 2much and also there McDonalds.Some of Mtv is alright but its 70% garbage,just like the food from McDonalds..

Oh yeah...and that game show..Remote Control...or whatever it was called...and Singled Out when Jennie was on it...she was funny.

MTV was still good during the first few years of the 90's when they would play all sorts of Music. I could watch it all day and not get bored because there would be so much variety. There biggest mistake was seperating the channels. I don't know about the US (when I came I didn't watch any MTV) but in the UK there are like 4 seperate MTV channels MTV, MTV2, MTV Base and another that I can't remember. They should stick it all on one channel, because MTV is just full of shit Justin Timberlake and crap alike.

Bring back "The Real World", Ray Cokes and other VJ's. Do the still have VJ's in USA, we don't really have them anymore. It's so sad.

Jay-Z might want to work with Prince, but the problem is Jay-Z's record company won't work with Prince on Prince's terms.

I think Prince probably wouldn't mind working with some of these young cats, but as soon as the suits come in and start talking about ownership of the music, we all know that's when the conversation with Prince is going to end.

But for the sake of Prince's popularity, I think Prince should look at working with some of today's popular artists as an investment in advertisement.
