June 7th 1984 First Avenue Birthday Show

I saw this listed in the Soundboard Recordings list at 80 mins, which would indicate that the whole show exist in soundboard quality, when the only tracks from the show circulating are 17 Days through All Day, All Night. For the corresponding boot it simply lists N/A. It shouldn't be 80 mins, probably should only be 20 mins of less than VG/VG+ soundboard, unless somebody has proof otherwise of a EX sounding soundboard of hte full show?

23. 7th June 1984 First Avenue, Minneapolis (80 mins/EX)

...also, anybody know what happens during Irresistable Bitch? Sounds like Prince drops the mic, or falls down in the middle of it?

I'm quite positive that a full soundboard of this show is not in circulation.

Probably the best quality circulating release of this show is 4DaFunk's "26."

Yeah, I think so also. I will say that the soundboard version that has leaked is tight!

Does anybody know the source and story behind those "Extra (SB tracks)"??? Those could not have been a another fan recording of that show. The quality sounds like it came straight from a tape. I think that's why it has that label of "soundboard", although it's not in that quality. Only 4 songs was leaked like this. It may not be the best quality but, this take of this show is tight. U're able to hear the songs more clear than b4. Like, I can hear the drums, bass, etc. a bit more clear than previous boots and it's less of the crowd as well. I don't know if it was part of the original release of the 4DaFunk release or what but, this was such a tease (only 4 songs)! Anyway again, does anybody know the source and story behind those "Extra (SB tracks)"???

Prince @ 1st Avenue 6.7.1984*Birthday Show

One of his hottest shows, this whole set to me was a representation of the energy that came from the Purple Rain sessions

17 Days
Our Destiny
Roadhouse Garden

"Wendy wants 2 live 4ever"

Now because it's my birthday
we just gonna get up here and
make a little music 4 ya'll 2 party by
alright?
If ya'll came in here expecting to drive Prince's red corvette...
thats not gonna work
ok we just gonna play a few numbers some of them u gonna know most of them you won't

Up All Day, Up All Night
Free
Noon Rendezvous ( I really like this rendition)
"Dedicated 2 that Sheila E dame over there"
Erotic City ( I love the rock touch to this...All the Critics Love U...)
Something In the Water Does Not Compute (this song was just extremely wild)
When Doves Cry
"Happy Birthday 2 Prince"
Irresistable Bitch
Possessed

^4DaFunk's '26' has been out for quite a while, and of course for free.

It has been the best source for this concert... until now.

OMG I just heard this, and despite it's problems, it's amazing! It's definitely from the soundboard, but maybe a 3rd or 4th generation tape. I mean, 4 a second I thought I was listening 2 a studio version of "Our Destiny". "26" is still the definitive version of this show as far as quality, but if they could work a miracle with this soundboard "EP" or even get their hands on the full soundboard tape, it would be a dream come true 4 me, as this show is in my top 5 all time favorite Prince shows.

Great news that this incredible show is now available in blinding soundboard quality.
Forget everything you have heard before, this is amazing.
Without doubt a contender for bootleg release of the year.

Grab this and be amazed.

the full soundboard is like an altogether different concert from any previous boot, even the old soundboard samples. much as it was great to have the show in the first place, the sound left a lot to be desired, but for a show over a quarter of a centuary old, it was lucky to have it in the first place

take the previously circulating soundboard tracks, the new version literally sounds like you've taken a blanket off the speakers

this is one of the most interesting boots in a long time as you have one of the greatest artists at a peak, and just before huge fame, and playing some fucking amazing tracks, some of his best, and a bunch of rare and unreleased songs. to have our destiny, roadhouse garden and all day all night in this quality is something i've been waiting on for 25 years myself since the early shitty bootleg days

I see it is above the horizon now smile

Excellent show and quality with only a remark that the liveliness in the mid-high is missing a bit.

It sounds a bit dampened (maybe overdolby-ed to get rid of tapehiss?) but it's stellar compared to the previous versions. Curious how the original tape sounds compared to this tweaked version.

Great show and funny to hear Prince already do his 'for people who expect LRC' remark

I'm sure Sabotage will fix that and sell it. lol lol

It sounds natural, no need for more high end.

There a lot of bass in the mix (more than you normally get in this era) and I had to put the treble way up (although I never do that because it tends to get to sharp).

But I stop here because it is nitpicking. I am very happy with this release.

BIG THANKS

How has Prince been sitting on a recording of this for so long and not released it himself? This is why I listen to music through studio monitors. Much thanks to all involved with this incredible boot!

These versions of "Irresistible Bitch" and "Possessed" isn't as intense as performances to follow. But the one that really hits me good is "All Day, All Night"

pretty simple, just listen to the show and you'll see. it's very raw and full of flaws. compare all day all night with the overdubbed version and you'll get an idea what needs to happen for a live track to be released
