MrLee192

best unreleased tracks circa 1987-1990?

my favourite Prince era is Black Album, LoveSexy and Batman. I love the dirty funk, rocking guitars and heavy powerful electric drumbeats....

Ive heard a fair bit of unreleased stuff from early to mid 80s... but non from this later era... was wondering what people would recommend?

Harlepolis

Get the Work It 2.0 Volume 3 for the good sound quality.

and get the Work Volume 3 for the more extensive Batman/Madhouse outtakes(This one I love dearly).

I don't think you'll go wrong with both nod

Most of what was due to be on the original Rave album at that time as well as and including:

The Voice Inside

God Is Alive

Me Touch Myself

The Line (this should have been on Crystal Ball IMO)

Good Judy Girlfriend

Mindbells

The Sex of It (so much fun this track, love it)

Bliss

to name a few

I think you should get the bootleg "Box o chocolates", it has some of the stuff from this era or roughly from this era.

Alot of the unreleased stuff from this era was released officially later on, like "pink cashmere", "crucial" and so on. Still i recomend box o chocolates which has some amazing tracks.

This was right around the time that the quality of his outtakes started to slip a little bit, IMO. They still weren't bad at all, but you could just tell there was "something" missing.

Anyone else agree?

Definitely. I would go farther than saying that the quality started to slip a little bit. If you compare the outtakes circa 1987-1990 to 1983-1986 there is a pretty big difference in the quality. I probably need to listen to the 1987-1990 era more but there are very few tracks that jump out at me as being great.

I'm not an expert on unreleased material but there's not much that has surfaced from 1987, is there? Circa 1983-1996 I'm pretty sure that 1987 is the year that the least number of songs have surfaced so maybe there are a ton of great songs from that year in the vault?
