Ronnie Talk 2 Russia why do many people hate on this song? I've always loved it like crazy. everytime I tell someone they go "why?"......... =.=
I just think it's simply awesome and the guitar is crazy too! I wish it was longer tho

Not a bad song, and it is hated on too much.
Then again, it's really short and has nonsense lyrics ("left-wing guerillas who want to blow up the world"?) Prince's political songs have always been ridiculous lyrically, but musically, it's a fine song. | |

It's my all time favourite Prince song. It has great energy.
People just dislike it because it's short, fun and not something like Let's Work or Controversy | |

A lot of the hate Is hate for regan. It also suffers now for being dated. Also many people may not know that prince like regan. For More reasons that millions regan helped prince keep. Prince said in an interview he liked regan and that he was a better president that Carter. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

I don't think of it as a weak link, but it IS the link between "Private Joy" and "Let's Work". It's not even 2 minutes long and I like how it starts as "Private Joy" is fading out and you hear the guitar squealing then "Ronnie" starts and just stops with a bomb going off at the end and "Let's Work" starts up.
"Ronnie" wasn't meant to be a "radio" single. It's an album track. | |

I was a lttle kid when Controversy came out. Due to the fact that I was watching way too much Nightly News for my age, I was scared to death about Nuclear War. So, I was really feeling those lyrics. I loved the beat and felt it really fit perfectly with that time and that album. Not quite as scared now, but still dig the song. CALL ME A DREAMER 2! |

The cool part is Ronnie did talk to Russia and soon after the wall came down and the cold war ended. Now as much as some over state regan's influence in the matter it is just as bad to say he had none. (much of it was due to the failure of its socialist enconomic structure.
