Sabotage went from great to average, to boring quite quickly.

Sabotage comes from that old school boot generation where the labels stole from each other frequently and, at times, improved upon each other's releases.

This generation, releases are put out for the love of the music and Sabotage still has a clientele so they jack 4DF's works, put their own labels on it, and say, "LOOK WHAT WE FOUND!!!" and slaps new art together.

Then they sell the sets for exorbitant amounts and make lots of money off both the fans and the new gen boot labels that operate out of pocket for free.

What i don't understand is that people might be aware enough to know about bootlegs but unaware enough to still buy them, particularly since bootlegs can't be bought in records stores anymore and therefore can only be purchased online, the one place where u can get 'em for free eek eek eek

There are more technology resistant people out there than you'd imagine. I know some people, myself, who refuse to torrent because they believe the RIAA will keep tabs and eventually bust them.

Seems to me that a lot of people rationalize the safety of purchasing these on auction sites.

Crazy shit eek

I don't think we have this in Europe but though P2P is supposedly illegal as in the US, we don't have shit like RIAA either...

Now let's be serious: i guess many people here know who Sabotage is (I don't but c'mon...) and if the RIAA wanted their ass they'd easily catch 'em wouldn't they?

Sabotage and Moonraker/Thunderball have been raided before. What they do is absolutely illegal. The process to find and take them out is much longer given they are based in Europe.

But sharing the stuff for free is illegal too right? People have been prosecuted just for freely distributing media (as opposed to selling it).

Sadly, Sabotage are not the only ones guilty of this process. EYE know of at least one other label who are so blatant at ripping the free labels it borders on being hilarious.

I'm one of those dinosaurs who still collects pressed releases. I enjoy them. I get pleasure from them and I am unlikely to stop collecting. Say what you like about where they sourced the material the packaging rarely dissapoints and it works both ways. No sooner have Eye or Sabotage put a release out its available on torrent sites.

It still doesn't make sense that you are putting money in their pockets for no reason at all.

Just stop buying them and get it for free. 4DF's releases include artwork.

Is artwork just as good? I haven't compared.

It's comparable when it's done in full. Some releases have full artwork, but I am not sure if they ALL do. Mikey/Digital Gardener would be better at that info. But the slick gloss of the art is on fire, in my opinion. Ranks up there, typically, with sets like Dreams, Fantasia, Deposition, Budokan, etc.

I like owning them and I listen to them. I think that downloading de-values the experience to a degree. I have read posts on here where folks say 'well I downloaded show x but I probably won't listen to it'
Whats the point of that then? May as well not bother in the first place. If you had parted with some $ maybe you would give the newer shows a chance?
