I’d love to play with Prince. I played on the Iggy Pop record, and he’s my guy… I played with Steve Jones; he’s my guitar hero.

Prince is the guy, probably the biggest musical influence all around for me, and I got to meet him one time, but I was so fucking tongue tied that I didn’t know what to say… But to be able to play on a song or something like that; that would be pretty bad ass, just on a personal level.

You know there’s a hundred things I could think of I have left to do, but it’s been great so far. I’ve never really sat there and thought about it; about what I’ve done so far, and how does it feel. I probably should do that one day, but it’s not happening yet. Probably a good sign.

He covered Bambi.

I respect that he feels that way. But does that mean he thinks Planet Earth is a great record? Or does he still hold Prince in the image of 1984? I wonder that about people who are dying to work with him.

Prince is still a great musician even if his studio work doesn t hold up to his early career.

Slash gave Prince a positive mention in his autobiography too.

- Prince is a living legend, even if he did some not so good albums in his career. And he is still a great musician.

I always loved Duff...(and Slash).

I don't think there is any way that it could work but I wouldn't mind hearing Prince and Duff/Slash/Izzy/Matt either record an album of play some live shows. I'm a big fan of Prince's "rock" side but I don't think he has ever had the right players to really nail it.

The musicians that Prince has worked with, for this conversation let's talk specifically about the bass players and drummers, have been terrific players but I don't necessarily think they are best suited to recording rock music. Maybe it's Prince's production but most of the time his attempts at rock music are very clean and polished. For me I much prefer a bit of sloppiness and grit in rock music. Michael Bland and Sonny Thompson were probably the two best players that he recorded rock music with but when I listen to The Undertaker there is something missing there. Certainly if you look at the players he has worked with the last fifteen years (Rhonda Smith, Larry Graham, Josh Dunham, Kirk Johnson, John Blackwell, C.C. Dunham) I don't think they are best suited to recording rock based music.

Ideally I would like to hear Prince record some very basic rock music using just guitar, bass and drums. No keyboards! If he wanted to use acoustic piano on some of the tracks that would be ok. Often Prince will have the guitar and keyboards playing the same riffs. That's ok and it works great but for a rock sound I would like it if he just stuck with the guitar. For me the closest he came to a great rock sound was the first side of Chaos and Disorder and Lotusflow3r. Those two albums are fantastic and I love them but that slick and polished sound is still there.

Of course this is just my opinion and your mileage may vary. Overall I am very satisfied with the music that Prince has given us but I think he is capable of giving me the type of rock album I am looking for and I would love it if he did so.

I love Duff and all, great player, but prince does not work well with people who have like, an opinion and stuff. Take for example all the great duets he did on Rave. The ones where you can't tell there's anyone else but prince on the song. That would be all of them.

Oh HELL YEAH!!!! This just jumped to the top of my "If I ever meet a genie and get 3 wishes" list. The greatest front man joins the hardest rocking band. Just imagine the cover of "November Rain". Prince trading guitar licks with Slash... I am losing it here. Somebody call Lenny Kravitz, he is on terms with all those guys, he can make it happen. Going out to look for that genie bottle.

There was talk that Lenny might join Velvet Revolver a couple years back. Prince couldn't do the rock thing with those guys (let's be real!) but I know Lenny could bring something good.

Wow, I would love to hear a rock collaboration between Prince and Duff. Duff is possibly the best live bass player I've ever seen. Completely forceful and driving, held the whole band together-amazing! And a real class act too!

yes his new stuff is 1000 times better, but theres nothing hideous about his first album
