Does sexual preference change your love? I was wondering about my love for P.
I love his music, and throughout the years his voice became a solace in dire times.
What I love is his ful public persona; the talent, the discipline, his guitar play, the singing, the dancing, the surrender to love, the sexual reign, the composing, etcetera.
And ofcourse his sexy looks.
I wondered if any of that love for him would change if he would say he is bisexual or gay?
NOTE:
! I'M NOT STATING P IS GAY. I DON'T WANT TO DISCUSS WHETHER HE IS OR NOT. DON'T GO THERE.
! I'M NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND HOW THEY INFLUENCE THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT GAY PEOPLE. DON'T GO THERE.
! I'TS NOT ABOUT JUDGING ANYBODY WHO IS GAY. DON'T GO THERE.
I WANT TO DISCUSS IF THAT WOULD INFLUENCE YOUR LOVE FOR HIS MUSIC AND/OR PERSONA
I don't think it would for me. I still love George Michael, I think even more now he is open about being gay. However, the sexuality of his lyrics also turn me on. I fantasize if a man would do that to me. And the sexual tension he builds up with his songs and music does make me have the hots for him. I don't know if that would still be there, because I'm a girl and out of the male gay equation.
What do you think about that?

I don't even understand the question. You know it's pop music right? Not cult personality worship.

if prince did come out as gay it would demolish all my wonderous sex fantasies, ya know, me & him..

That's exactly what I mean. How much of it is love for the music, how much is it love for his public persona and how much about fantasies about the man?
I don't know how to express my question better. Maybe you can help to word it?

Or is his sexualitaty decisive? 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

The only thing that interests me is his music. And it's the only thing that should interest a fan.
The fact that I like or dislike his music wouldn't change if he fucks women, men or monkeys.

Keep telling them...
Maybe eventually it'll sink in. [Edited 5/21/11 8:34am] Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

I agree - though I gotta say, it might make me prone to giggling during the slow jams.

Music is what attracted me to Prince. What he does behind closed doors is only HIS business.

I would love his music no matter where he decides to place his pee-pee. * * *

No, not even a little bit. I doesn't even matter to me. Even if he kiss man in his video(s) or made songs about gay love if he was gay , I don't mind. [Edited 5/21/11 11:31am]

It would not make a difference as I still listen to George Michael and Ricky Martin music with the same enjoyment. But it would be a pity if Prince was gay. "Free URself, B the best that U can B, 3rd Apartment from the Sun, nothing left to fear" Prince Rogers Nelson - Forever in my Life -

I strongly believe that Prince is at least bi, probably quite gay.
And, no--it doesn't influence my love of his music. It's his own love life, so what of it?
I do think Prince's sexuality is a legitimate topic for conversation, and people always complain that it's beaten like a dead horse, but in reality the threads are rare compared to a host of other constantly repeating subjects.
However, assuming that he were gay, Obviously he's so repressed about it that you'd only get the usual hints or lyrics that are deliberately ambiguous:
Lyrics like:
"Bambi, can't you understand. Bambi, it's better with a man." -- sure you can say he's telling a lesbian that, but it's worded awfully awkwardly.
"I just hate to C an erection go to waste. I'm just rock hard in a funky place."--again, we can say that's he's speaking of his own erections, but the wording is ambiguous.
"I'm good 2 cream every boy and girl...."--well....welll.....wellllllll.
The list is endless with Prince. He makes it so defenders can point out how the lyrics are straight using biased assumptions, and how open minded folks cans say that it might be gay using speculation.
So, no it would not change my love of his music. I think he's probably already gay or bi, and has been hinting about it all along, but probably so darned repressed we'll never know.

His persona, life, etc interests me, yes. But ultimately it wouldn't if it weren't for all the great music.
And no, his sexual preference has nothing to do with that. |

Well, I'm not a fancy lesbian, and I still love the man to death. "For what it's worth, you're somewhere here on Earth..."

Wait up now, hold on... you're leaving out all the straight-up, macho, heterosexual lyrics. Like, say, "I'll Jack U Off".

I concur, he'll probably wait to "come out" at his retirement, like Little Richard.

Since when can a man JACK a woman off?!

^ I think that was a joke.
Anyway, I think Prince is who he is. Someone who defies those sexual labels (straight/gay/bi) so it don't matter. Androgynous people are not defined by an orientation, he clearly made that point clear in "Uptown" to me.

i'd absolutely love him just the same minus the sex fantasies.. the voice, the music love, guitar lust, passion beauty, fun games, hats lipstick... he's fabulous
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think that his sexuality is completely irrelevant. The music he creates is beautiful, and the passion that comes forth when he performs has nothing to do with which sex he prefers to be with, it has to do with being inlove with the music, almost as an entity of it's own. Besides, we all know that you can't define a man like Prince...he's above it all.

Totally would not. However its cool that he isn't because it scares people and challenges their strict notions of what a male sex symbol should be. Prince is a transcendent talent as is Elton John; if you can get the job done- congrats you are on my ipod.
