One would think it would be credited if it is a Prince sample. It can't be too hard to find out.
A few years back there was an ad on TV for rum or something where this House of Pain song was sampled. It always reminded me of the Gett Off squeal, yet I think I always concluded it only bore a strong resemblance and was not the real thing. So Jimmy you're not the only one, son.

Actually until the mid-90s when sampling laws went into effect, a lot of early hip hop tracks did not credit the source of their samples. Just to get back to the original question, I always thought Public Enemy's use of the guitar solo and scream from "Let's Go Crazy" looped in "Brothas Gonna Work It Out" was pretty creative. The way they looped it, it almost created a totally different melody. I really like that Public Enemy loop of "Let's Go Crazy".
I think 1 of the coolest sounds that a DJ scratched in 4 a stab would b: Cut-Creator's usage of Prince's "Irresistable Bitch" [1983] on LL Cool J's "Dangerous" [1985]
