Tyler Perry's are the only movies that make some of Prince's movies look good.

awww Thanks so much 4 the share! I posted it to my FB.

Lol funny that Prince loves Madea, I wonder what he thinks when he's watchin her, hehe. And George is right, it does seem that Prince knows everything that's happening that appears on TV when it seems like he doesn't even watch it. Hmmm

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Well both Tyler Perry and Prince like to wear feminine clothes and makeup, so I can understand the kinship there.

I really don't understand the Madea phenomenon or the popularity of Tyler Perry's films. I've forced myself to watch at least 3 of those Madea movies, and I didn't think any of them were funny at all. Friends of mine who love those movies tell me I don't like them because I must not get "black humor", which is bullshit. I'll laugh my ass off at stereotypical "black humor" when it's actually funny (e.g. I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, etc.) Perry's films aren't funny.

Failed attepts at comedy aside, the Medea films are horrible. They're lazily written and predictable. Plus, they send mixed messages. I forgot which film I saw last, but there was one scene in which Medea was in a car and beat the shit out of a girl in the back seat (which was supposed to be funny). Later, she beat the shit out of a girl on a school bus (again, this was supposed to be funny). The whole time, the same film seemed to also preach against violence against women. So beating women is bad, but beating the shit out of children is totally acceptable (not to mention hilarious and Christian)? And does anyone else find it strange that a man who has spoken publicly about his being abused as a child makes films that find humor in beating children? I'm getting mixed messages here--horribly written, predictable, and unfunny mixed messages at that.

The madea movies are great. Tyler Perry has a gift. Madea is like my grandmother, mother and aunt all wrapped into one. lol

I didn't think Prince would be into that

I'm sorry but Tyler Perry is a hack and Madea is derogatory low-brow coonery. Tyler and his BFF Oprah should be ashamed of themselves for promoting the simple-minded violent character as a role model. He continually crafts poorly paced soap opera, where the women are good and the men are, almost always, bad. It is a cliché overdone, playing out in the most obvious and crass manner.

I love the African American grandmama character because I'm a grandma's boy, a lot of madea's 'problem solving skills remind me of home lol. I'm not always riveted by all of Tylers stuff because it can get redundant. I give him credit for sticking with what works and i wish people like Eddie Murphy would return to what they do best but sometimes it can get boring. Its like music in a way, we love Prince for throwing us curveballs and stretching out but he's done so much of that I'm not sure he can even experiment with the Mpls. Sound-he's forgotten what made him effective. Madea mania may have Tyler kept hostage in ways, i only wish 1999 era Prince could have stuck around a little bit longer.

These movies pander to the lowest common denominator and if you enjoy them, that's what you are.

Tyler put the "Madea" character in overdrive. It's time for him to put that character to rest.tombstone Tyler is afraid of losing the audience that's been with him from the beginning, when he was selling his "Madea" plays on DVD.
