serious question, i would like serious replies please

I dont hate "it". It is danceable and still a funky tune. It is just cold and redundant lyrically. I wanna do it baby all the time Cuz when we do it, it's so define ...doesnt really go into any complex theory on sex like his previous tunes...very basic.

The last half of the song is the best because it climaxes and uses more keyboard elements. The more things he added in the track the better and made it worth listening to.

True, but not every song has to be complex. Sometimes it's good to just hear a straight up and down, funky, sexy song. His vocals and the stark, industrial and moody production make up for anything the lyrics may lack.

It does. The overall judgement is mixed in my part because of this standoff between the lyrics and the music. It's like I dance to it..but then while I sing the song my mentality is saying "this is not written very well" lol.

^^ for someone who isn't a fan,you sure do know alot about their music lol

They were so popular in those new wave times, then their comeback with Violator was great. But really, I don't own a single album. I dig some of their songs though.

I'd like to hear prince revamp "It" to be harder or more funky in some alternate studio mix. The vocals are great, I want crazier on the beat and rhythm.

I think your assumption is wrong.

Most people don't hate "It"... they just don't like it as much as most of the other songs on the album. It shows how strong an album "Sign O' The Times" is when even it's 'weakest' tracks are still good.

Right, I can't imagine that a lot of Prince fans now or then hate this song....IT is such a typical

Prince song. Maybe the general public would have hated this, like they thought a lot of Prince album tracks were strange those days.......that's what happens when they listened 2 Witney or Stock,Aitken&Waterman the whole day lol

Seriously, IT is NOT my least fav of the album, nor my fav, it's just a great P-song!!

One of the main reasons I love Prince music, is that he actually knows how to do alot with almost nothing. Some of my favourite tunes are his super stripped down to minum songs like Head, Kiss and Girls & Boys. It's the repetetive but at the same time playful and unpredictable music that really got me. Songs like The Work from The Rainbow Children is one of his most "well crafted" funk recordings, and is sort of a more complex composition in the style of James Brown and Tower of Power. But personally I prefer him when he does the stripped down Prince sound.

Even complex Prince is often very stripped down. If he had not added clare fisher to Parade and THe Family album, they would also sound alot less complex. Prince's key to success lays on his way of mastering the art of simplicity
