Prince's Intelligence

Prince was shown in Graffiti Bridge using a Mac, and if I'm understanding correctly, also designed the purpleaxxe sampler. How intelligent is Prince when it comes to technology in general? I'm sure he knows how to operate his VCR, but does anyone have any idea where his smarts lay other than music?

I'm sorry, is using a Mac supposed to be an arbiter of intelligence?

Scores points with me. I'm a Mac user and I swear by it. My 10 year old Mac is way better than the quad-core PC I use at work. It takes a smart person to know that Apple's computers are a better investment and have a longer life to them than a PC.

In actuality, Prince strikes me as being a lot like George W. Bush...he is great at spewing a series of memorized talking points, but can't really hold up a debate.

Plus he's a bit of a conspiracy theorist, which is an indication of somewhat....erm...stunted intelligence. shrug

What's your intelligence? Graffiti Bridge is FICTION. Prince is playing a character. A lot of things The Kid does, Prince does not do. Like read sheet music.

Intelligence can manifest itself in different ways. I've known computer programmers who have lousy taste in music.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Why do so many Prince fans, think he's a moron?

Listen to the man's lyrics. He's gotta be pretty bright.

Just because he says stuff you don't agree with or find odd - eccentricity and stupidity aren't the same thing.

He pertains alot of knowledge, in the fact that he's always giving reports and statistics on current situations, and he's well educated with everything involving music, from making it, to how the music industry works. and Prince is a bit of a history lover, this was made obvious on the interview he did with Tavis. he's also charitable which shows he's up 2 date on how society is being run, and what can help communities (r atleast he's caring enough to give)

So ima say he's an intelligent man, very much so

btw hate mac, so confusing plus it aint the orginal microsoft PC is

uh, yeah, in fact the assumption that there is a single human faculty called "intelligence" is contestable.

I don't think he's a moron, he's a musical genius for certain- off the charts in fact, but I agree with Sags2low, what he said about Prince seeming to "memorize" what he's suppossed to say for interviews. He does come across that way, as though he's trying to appear more intelligent than he is. And I HATE the way he puts his glasses on when he knows he's going to be doing a bit where he wants to come across as smart. It's such a dead giveaway that he's trying too hard, like dumbass Demi Moore when she had to go speak at Harvard for something or one of those schools, they showed her in big black horn-rimmed glasses- when you NEVER see her in glasses- it was pathetic.

& there you have it, that's why in a conversation with someone 'like' Prince you'd walk away sayin' that cat has his own mind or you'd say he was crazy and where is he gettin' his facts from. Not to turn this into a religious thread but, this kinda reminds me how when I speak with JWs or someone who's Christian and I tell em I'm Muslim, we usually don't hear one another from that point, not being a bad thing ...

Strangely, whenever I see anyone using a computer in a movie or television show, it's always a Mac.

Do you have to pay royalties to Microsoft if you show a PC in your film, or something?

Intelligence is a difficult thing to measure. Psychologists argue that generic intelligence is different to musical intelligence.

Mozart was extremely good and learning and playing complex pieces of music and composition but in all his academic studies he was average. Music was the only was that Mozart excelled. This can be argued that because he was 'nurtered' into music his brain power was focused on this and thusly he became more adept.

Prince, I think is similar, but none of us know him so how can we ever say for sure he's an intelligent man. Musically we know he's great because he spent so much of his youth focusing on it. So did his intelligence in other areas suffer because of this?

As for Prince remembering lines and wearing glasses during interviews, you can argue that as Prince has always said he doesnt feel that comfortable during interviews may be when actually talking about something serious he simply didnt want to screw up. smile

& that (bolded) is what has me be drawn to him. I believe he always brings an interesting point of view or take on so said subjects. Yeah chemtrails exist and rule number 4080, record company people are shady. So quoted by my man Q-Tip ...

I have heard that Macs are extremely popular in Hollywood, or at least they were while Apple was clearly the upstart and Microsoft was the evil empire. If all the screenwriters and production people use Macs, it shouldn't be surprising that you see a lot of them in movies.

Mac provides mach up shells for TV and movie placement at no charge. While they are just a small percentage of the overall market, they are one of the most recognizable brands. This is due to the fact that it is Apple vs EVERY PC maker out there. While this does not indicate intelligence, it does indicate what the prop people had available to them.

perfect example of people thinking they know intelligence because their knowledge is based on what they learned and differs from those they denigrate as "less" intelligent. I for one would rather listen to someone who spoke of chemtrail. And Prince was factually correct regarding the presidents before Washington, and there are a host of books regarding Lincoln's true feelings regarding race. Just because someone refuses to accept what they have been told to be the truth does not mean they are less intelligent. I would argue that simply accepting what you are told definitely is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_slavery#The_Americas

"However, in August 1862, Lincoln wrote to editor Horace Greeley that despite his own moral objection to slavery, the objective of the war was to save the Union and not either to save or to destroy slavery. He went on to say that if he could save the Union without freeing a single slave, or by freeing all the slaves, or by freeing only some of the slaves, he would do it."

Would you at least admit Vitriol, that Lincoln's objectives were questionable?

Counting in the fact that none of us have really met Prince or have been friends with him for a period of time - how can we figure out if he's intelligent or not? Interviews don't count, as I have learned first hands a few weeks ago by having to give an interview myself - well I sounded like a complete moron/deer caught in headlights. So judging Prince on that is simply not fair.

To be perfectly honest we don't know a thing about Prince as a man. We don't know what his inner world is like nor do we know what he's like when he's alone with people he trusts and likes.

If you seriously think Prince using a Macintosh in a movie indicates something of his level of intelligence then that's pretty damn sad.

I think the computer scene, he's actually using it to programme some music he is supposedly composing. By 1990, already you had programmable electric keyboards and the like (Remember Morris pushing the button which has Prince screeching "Release Itttt!!!!" and the rest). Just spending 35 years programming keyboards (I assume the first he used were Chris Moon's in early 1976), Prince would have a high level of technical intelligence. Also by the mid 1980s Prince was singing about technology, Computer Blue (Although its nothing about computers, and may refer to the blue screen/ green screen technology of the 80s), by 1996 he sang about scanning his computer and emale, emale dot come etc. His NPG Music Club was pioneering and helpoed him win the webby, and the downloads in the 1990s show he exploited computers very early on. By 1996 He had LOve41another.com up and running. By 2009 he found he could rip off people with the Lotusshit webshite and lost his lead there. Even fiascos like the Crystal Ball thing could be blamed on less capable distributors and call centre staff rather than his Purple Majesty.

His wizardry in writing music and everything ese, I would say Prince is extremely intelligent and have an IQ of at least 120 and probably in the 130s or 140s and higher. He graduated hi school ahead of time and if music hadn't been his calling, Prince would be a college professor. The fact his mother got a Masters as well, shows that the intelligence runs in his family.
