We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

If you are dopey enough to pay for bootlegs, there are plenty of other sites for you to go and waste your money.

I really like thedigitalgarden.org and appreciate the effort they put into that site, but they need to make it more collaborative. Why not allow people to: 1) add comments and 2) rate the releases? That would make the whole site more useful. Just imagine the possibilities. They could automatically produce lists such as "top 10 boots of 2011", "top 10 live boots from the Lovesexy tour", etc.

That, plus they need to add an RSS feed.

So true. I paid for a boot once before I realized that everything is truly downloadable for free. Worst, I paid someone money for making a copy of a file that they got for free. Will never do that again.

I once put a bid on a copy of the "Vavoom" boot on ebay (Which was just songs from the "Chocolate Invasion" and "Slaughter House" albums) but I was pipped at the post right at the last minute by some other dude. I was pretty gutted 4 about a week till I found it 4 free online, then I was buzzing. smile

It takes a hell of a lot of work to maintain that place and for the revamp, it took many free hours to rebuild it as you see it now. All of this is done in peoples spare time between work.

Some of the features you mention have already been looked into but they are not a priority at this time. Once the database is fully updated then additional interaction and features will be looked into as mentioned in the 'News' section at the site smile

I'm a software developer myself, so I know that a website such as thedigitalgarden.org takes a lot of time to create and maintain. So, thank you for your efforts. They're really appreciated.

Cool. Adding new features such as users comments and ratings will require some time, but, IMHO, it will also allow the site to "live by itself", i.e. it will become less necessary for your team to publish reviews for new (or old) releases, which is very time-consuming. Crowdsourcing has its limits, but, in that case, I think it could be very useful.

If you want to discuss it, go to Prince.org. I don't think the point of it is to make it into a social networking site based on bootlegs.
