Partyman & The Sacrifice Of Victor

Has anyone ever noticed the similarities in the rhythm of these 2 songs? I am listening to Scarifice and a coworker said it reminded him of the song the Joker was playing during the art gallery scene from Batman, Partyman.

Your thoughts?

They both have pretty cool bass lines too. Yeah, they do "feel" similar.

Rudy

the only difference between them:

Partyman was a fun song from when Prince still really mattered

The Sacrifice of Victor was a drag that closed a career-killing record

Hi Enigmoid,
I remember reading somewhere that when they did the "Batman" movie, for that gallery scene, they played '1999', and overdubbed it in post production with Partyman. Supposedly, Jack Nicholson was a big fan of the '1999' song.

My name is Prince was weird? I don't think it's any good but I wouldn't say it was weird. 7 is a great song. No one else would have done that song.

omfg The Sacrifice of Victor ROCKS! I used to play it on repeat, full blast. I should do that today.

And prince was hardly a career-killing record. Yes, it was around the time when Prince's commercial success dropped off, but that actually happened afterward. He got three radio hits off prince: "My Name Is Prince", "The Morning Papers", and "7". Does that qualify as a career-killer?

The Sacrifice Of Victor and Partyman may sound alike, the atmospheres of the two songs are completly different.I like them both, maybe The Sacrifice Of Victor a little bit more. Love the gosel-ending : "Sometimes, U gotta leave the one u love! Somebody! Anybody! Everybody wave your hand! Around the corner, there's another sacrifice!..." headbang
