Funky litle track.

Does anyone know the history/origins of this one?

It sounds like it could fit right on Parade though I suspect it was written year after that one.

The liner notes (if you can believe them) say that the song was first written and recorded in 1983... but, the version most people have probably heard was re-recorded in 1991.

That's the thing about Prince... it's bad enough that he has vault material, but on top of that, he's constantly updating his vault material with new arrangements and new recordings of old vault tracks.

That's why I always say that as far as we know, a lot of the stuff that we're hearing from Prince right now today could very well be vault material... you just never know... the music is timeless.

I like both versions. I especially like the line, "Little did she know, when you're stuck in the snow, no one gets out alive..." from the "Vault" version. It alludes to the cocaine thing without spelling it out. But I hate that he changed the progression of "the sun set" from morning, to afternoon, etc. Oh, well.
