People who do not like the song, or don't rate it are not "so called fans." They could think the same about you if you do not like a song they do.

It's all opinions, but you can't say that someone is not really a fan because they don't like a certain song.

I'm not seeing any real hate for the song on this thread.

Interesting, so many people not liking the song. To me, it is one of his best ballads, if not his best. It was his first song where I could enjoy the horns, combined with the hammond. The plastic production that plagued (and to a large extent still plagues) his music is mostly absent, as the drum is understated.

The vocals are great too, with great harmonies, although it is not sung as traditional harmonies, but as seperate lead tracks that work well together.

And even though the lyrics are kind of syrupy (I don't care for lyrics as much as for the music), it is offset by a sense of humor. (well maybe not the ride)

Prince, to me, is not the greatest ballad writer. Sure Scandalous is great and Condition of the Heart is marvelous, but Adore made up for having to listen to stuff like Hot Thing, Slow Love and ICNTTPOYM on Sign of the Times. Made more than up for it.

I love Adore!

At least your answering and yes I agree, the lyrics are a bit lightweight compared to Slow Love (Telling a girl shes about to get the fuck of her life) but those songs are brilliant, International Lover, When 2 R in love wow!!!. Would you add Do Me Baby to that list and u would have me sold!

I don't see how someone could not love "Adore". It's the best song on the CD in my opinion. I especially long the very end when he talks about everything that he'll give her. C'mon folks....even if it's a lie or for a moment....it's beautiful.

I dig it but Slow Love is the BALLAD on SOTT. I actually think "Adore" is a bit overrated because it's one of the only Prince ballads R&B stations play anymore. That and "Do Me Baby" but I don't get as tired of "Do Me Baby" as I do "Adore". Don't know why, I just do.

I meant to say SOTT (Sign Of the Times).

I think the appeal of Adore may split down cultural lines, in my culture R&B isnt a dirty word and "By the numbers" R&B Ballads are responsible for 75% of the population lol. It is underrated because Prince at the time was known for Ballads that were sexually infused, songs for the horny kids who were trying to get laid. Adore established him with R&B Radio as an Artist for the Ages, Older Black DJ's and our parents had to give it up and admit "that nasty little boy" was as substantive as Al Green and any of the artist they grew up listening to. I remember the look on my moms face when i told her he recorded it by himself. It's one of those "remember where you were and who you were kickin it with"jams that take certain people back. No synths, no Sex, no fetish, just straight up old school chivalry. It broadened his Ballad portfolio, most of his Ballads were about getting TO the panties but Adore was about getting her down the isle-he wasnt fuckin just for kicks. All Time Great Ballad for me, it was the backdrop to my first marriage and definately the conception of my 23 yr. old daughter.

Ok so i love adore, and i also scandalous and insatiable, which seemed to be some of the most hated Prince ballads on the org. And im still in confusion of why, i mean the songs sound great, his voice isnt off, i guess they're just not into romantics r being wooed. Im a sucker for P's sweet voice talking about how he truly adores's a woman, and not 2 mention ive always been some what a romantic at heart, so i guess its more some a personal thing

But i truly adore, ADORE!!!

Absolutely amazing song! One of the top 5 Prince songs of all time for me. I hate to say it but I doubt he'll ever reach this level of creativity again. But of course, I would be glad if I'm wrong.

It's hard to have a favorite Prince song but this is definitely it for me. LOVE ADORE. ADORE ADORE.

Mesmerizing and definitely 'P' classic...my fav part is his vocal range during this lyric: "Be with me darlin' till the end of all time"....yup - gets me everytime.
