Come is definitely one of his best, most understated records of the 90's. I haven't heard it in a while, but everytime I hear "Space," I can't help but feel the groove. The album is addictive! music

I like it. That was actually the first Prince album I didn't buy when it originally came out, partly because it was advertised as leftover tracks by a "dead" artist.

One way to test whether you really like an album is to try and imagine the music in your head when it isn't playing and you haven't heard it recently. I can do that with a couple of the songs on Come. I can't mentally conjure up any of the songs on Chaos and Disorder, even though I've probably heard both albums about the same number of times. By comparison, Prince could erase every copy of Controversy in the world and I could still listen to it in my mind.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't a lot of the music after the prince album 'vault' tracks? I believe I read something here on the org or somewhere on-line how that was the case until Gold Experience dropped. Never-the-less all the music back then including 'The Vault' I love ...

I prefer the album version of the song "Come" over the original version, I know that most people here prefer the original version. The only thing I really dislike about that song are those unnecessary slurping and sucking sounds he makes. Yes, he´s licking pussy, okay, we get it....no need for those stupid sounds.

The album would have been even better if he´d stuck with the original concept of "Come". He should have kept Strays Of The World as the closing song of the album. A brilliant song that would have made the album a bit more cohesive due to the "Come" idea or concept at the end. It would have worked out great as a true concept album if he hadn´t butchered it here and there.

I could do without those... um... "poems." rolleyes But it is otherwise a pretty solid album. More interesting than all the rest of his '90s output besides Graffiti Bridge, IMHO.

Very good, but it could have been great. It's his dark & moody album...

it's too bad that he had to ruin it with the Prince is dead 1958-1994 bullshit, the beginning of the "crazy jerk" years

Loose and Pheromone are bad, though, I certainly prefer What's My Name or LoveLight

Come is first full Prince album I bought. That album had the opportunity to make me hate everything Prince did or make me want to know more. Thankfully, it accomplished the latter.

It took me a few years to appreciate the album but now I dig it. I love the title track. It really makes me miss the Hornheadz. sad

I don't think it will ever happen but it would be fantastic if a box set collecting the stuff he did circa 1993-1994 was released that put this music into chronological order. There was obviously a ton of great music made during this time and I would love to hear it and see how he progressed during this time.

It has a few good songs. I can't say that I like it as a whole, but I think it is very cohesive and he was successful in creating a consistent atmosphere. Everything just seems to fit, even if it sucks.

That isn't correct. The majority of the Come album was recorded in early 93, the Gold Experience fall/winter of 93, and Exodus early/mid 94. I know a lot of people seem to think all of these songs were recorded around the same time and that some songs ended up on Come and some on the the Gold Experience, but that is not the case.

The way the albums were released were in chronological order, just about a year and a half after they were done, but with some songs getting some reworking. Not that uncommon for Prince, at the time, to have the material finished long before they were released.

I'll be he first to say, I love TGE and HATE Come. Prince was trying to buy into the ambient pop that was popular at the time and it just came off as boring rather than atmospheric.

I'm also referring to the 1993/1994 material that was released on Crystal Ball. It would be great to have the Glam Slam Ulysses/Come/The Gold Experience/and other odds and ends collected into a four or five disc box set.

It was the first Prince album below 8/10 since For You. Come is worse than that one, so no. It's an interesting album, but none of the tracks are particulary outstanding.

Not really. Come was hot of the press. The Gold Experience was largely recorded through the same time period 93/94, so that was up to date too. Same goes for C&D.

The Vault...OF4S dates mostly 1991-96, the 1992 I'll Do Anything sessions and onwards, so when that album was compiled (same time as C&D, 1996), that would've contained the most dated material, but nothing before the 90s (discounting OF4S, since it was the '91 update version).

Can't believe how much love Letitgo seems to get. I swear that song must've sounded dated back in 93....

The sequence of Papa - Race - Dark is probably my favourite trio of songs on any Prince album.

I remember reading once that New World was written for the Come album... not sure if that's true or not, although I can see it fitting in quite well.
