Has Prince ever used anything than standard tuning? I'm not aware of any songs he's done in open tuning, or even drop-D. Any examples?

The only time I ever noticed Prince use an alternet tuning is during the intro/first verse to "Dolphin". Check it out on the Letterman performance. He re-tunes his guitar right before the first chorus.
Or maybe somebody was playing with his knobs right before he hit the stage?
Prost! Welcome to "the org", nayroo2002… life, it ain't real funky unless it's got that pop

Prince prefers singing in the higher section of his range. So it makes sense that he doesn't tune his guitar any lower.

I saw this and it was wonderful to see him "playing" with his instrument. Prince's Sarah
