I listened to the whole thing this morning while I was working. This was an especially good review; I really like that guys have actually started breaking down the chord progressions note-for-note and playing them on the keys for those of us who can't just think it up. You guys are taking internet music criticism to a new level.

Couldn't have said it better. Ditto to the above post. I will also add that I particularly appreciated your review of Anotherloverholenyohead. Really every song was reviewed in such great detail. Great work guys! thumbs up!

Nice one! Particularly with the accompanying piano chord changes enlightenment. More of that would be great! cool

I realise I get you guys all muddled up as to who is who. But no hammers today lol

I enjoy your podcasts but the acceptance you give to the idea of lotusflower being better than Parade is sheer blasphemy. Colonized Mind was cool musically (lyrically horrific) til I found out it ripped off a Miriam Makebe song and I enjoy Wall of Berlin but I wouldn't take it over one note on Parade. neutral

^They do all this blahblah in order to come to the conclusion that Lotusflow3r is a better album than Parade! How ridiculous is that!? lol

MC and another of your gang definitely did, when toting up the overall album ratings. Just this shockingly casual acceptance that Lotusflow3r is the better album. eek

I just listened to Under The Cherry Moon, the song, again and I have a new description of the song--Honkytonk Classical music.

I just noticed the mandalin. Never noticed it before or the horns, way down in the background.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Girls and Boys is funky, but the song has always been overrated to me. So over the top with sounds and noises. Sure, it's good, but is it great?

I take Sexual Suicide any time.

The horn part in the song is classic though.

Just finished listening to the show and it was very interesting. I must say its shocking to me that you guys think Lotus Flower is better than Parade. I am also very surprised that at least one or more of you think of the first four songs as not really songs but intros. I don't see it that way. I think they all are as fully fleshed out and complete as he wanted them to be. They're short because he wanted them that way....never have I thought they were intros or incomplete.

I also like they way they begin and end because they flow into each other and help the flow of the album. Other than that always look forward to hearing you guys' takes on things and its always a pleasant listen if nothing else.

OK, I'll confess... I was the one who said Lotus was better than Parade... not really sure I agree with that now. It was one of those spur-of-the-moment comments lol. What I was trying to say was that Lotusflow3r felt more like it was 'finished', whereas a lot of Parade (to me) sounds kind of unfinished/experimental - which gives it a certain charm. Lotus is more a 'proper' album if that makes sense confused

But yeah, don't take our scores too literally. I'm sure like most of you your opinions change on a regular basis. It's really just a reflection of how we feel right there and then...

Eh, don't back off from your opinion, it's perfectly valid. I think Lotusflow3r is a great album too. I do think that it should be allowed to age at least ten years before a solid judgement is made about it. For example, I think it is fair to say that many fans had a very negative opinion of Come when it was first released but over time it's reputation has improved quite a bit.

So how are you guys figuring out what to do the next show on? I thought that you were reviewing them in reverse order but the Parade Album review breaks that trend.

LOVED the podcast! Please say more about the 12", B-sides and live versions when you can, though... They give more meat to history and development of some songs and how they can be interpreted.

Can't wait for the next review, but how about an episode of coverage to either an instrument (bass, anyone?) and how it's been used through his career, or to a musician's influence (Eric Leeds!)? As you said, Parade wouldn't be what it is without Clare and his strings, but what about use of strings elsewhere (and you can harp on about your opera house as well:-))

Keep up the good work!!

They also reviewed Around the World in a Day and Batman out of order. I'm guessing they do that to make things a bit more interesting. Shoot, if you had just reviewed Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic would you want to dive into Newpower Soul right away?razz

Yeah we are roughly working backwards but when a big anniversary comes up we do that album just to keep it interesting... ( for you and us smile

But I think we have done 3 reviews in a row now, Rave, The Vault & Parade - maybe time for something different ??

Is Emancipation gonna be three separate reviews ? I think it should be.

I think they mentioned that it would be broken up somehow. It's definitely too much for a single episode. Emancipation is probably one of my three favourite Prince albums so I am dying to hear the Peach and Blackers dive into it.

I would agree. Like when they were talking about Mountains and I kept thinking

oh wait till one of em mentions that fucking 12" version!... but no one really did!
I do remember someone making some coy reference to a future show where more

could be said about 12" versions or something like that, so maybe there is a

12 inch single reveiw show coming or something...

Anyways, great listen as always!
