Paul McCarthy Jacking Prince?

In his "Everytime You Go" video, I get a Prince vibe. The clothes he has on is what bothers me.

And I proabaly miss spelled his name...

You did. And the song title, or rather: you got it wrong as he has no song by that title.

Are you talking about Paul Young?

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Yes, Paul Young....I got the same vibe from his video....very Princey.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

If it is a Prince vibe, it's because Daryl Hall wrote it.

It's got a vibe alright...

AN HALL & OATES VIBE.

Hall & Oates did this song in 1980 on their album, "Voices".

How? Daryl was around LONG before Prince ever hit the scene. It's all about the influences of old Philly Soul, Motown and Stax soul music. Prince was influenced by them also.

I'm quite sure Paul Young is a fan...I remember when Prince performed Emancipation at the Brits they showed Paul Young singing along to it.

Considering 72 people in the UK bought Emancipation,Paul must have been one of them.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

I don't know if I would call 6 years a LONG time. Add this to the fact that the song was composed in 1980, that whole thing kinda falls apart.

Just to clarify....it's not the SONG that has the Prince vibe, but the VIDEO...imo.

Daryl was in the 1960's group The Temptones, which is more than 6 years before Prince's debut album. They released a few singles.

Paul Young is/was definitely a P fan.

At his peak, PY did a world tour, and the P comparisons where there to be seen throughout the entire show.

He had a sliding pole on the side of the stage just like P did back then. cool

He wore the frills

P dance steps (the way a white pommy would dance them) lol

And did the whole use of the mike stand like P does.

I was like eek when I saw one of his shows, and kept pointing out the obvious to the non-educated ones (who really didnt give a shi..)

lol
