Prince's Most Endearing Concert Moments

What are some of the most endearing moments you've seen of Prince in concert? Times when it wasn't his performance, but his personality that grabbed you. A couple of mine:

1. At the 2004 NYC Musicology concert (June 13 I think), when he was playing Raspberry Beret and he let the crowd sing, "She wasn't too bright..." and the crowd hit the voice ripple in that line, he stopped playing and said, "Ya'll just don't know how cool that sounds sitting where I am."

2. The June 7, 1986 show when Wendy led everyone in singing Happy Birthday to him and Jerome strong-armed him to keep him there. He was so uncomfortable, he was almost childlike.

It may be because I've only been to one concert. But I really loved that he looked so geniunely happy about all the love he was getting at the North Charleston show. He was very playful with the crowd. It was a great party.

Most of Princes 'spur of the moment' things in concert seem to be rehearsed (they crop up at the same points in many shows) but one if the funny unique moments I remember was one of the ONA gigs in London and, midway through an acoustic set, a man in the audience shouted out "I love you" and Prince stopped everything and said "that voice was a little too deep for me"

Homophobic!!!! smile

He said that during his birthday show back in 1984 (it was either this year or 1985), too, because some dude yelled out he loved him.

don't know if it was rehearsed, but in the syracuse show i love when he keeps kicking his piano stool over and the stagehand keeps bringing it back like a faithful dog. not exactly endearing but it never fails to make me giggle biggrin

I saw this show for the first time in 25 years last Monday. The big smiles everyone had during that show was just fantastic. It really appeared that they were having a great time. I like to think it was genuine.

it surprises me that no one knows that that was an ode to the one and only Jerry Lee.
