I love putting 2gether Prince era playlists or playlist by subject.

4 me it's a good way of getting into albums or songs that I might not generally appreciate

as well a favoured way of listening to music from my favorite Prince albums.

The playlist I listed above ain't got a whole lotta flow to it! I am trying to open my wife up to some "new" P music, and I was trying to give her some songs that weren't Top 40. Something that shows his variety.

I sometimes have shorter playlists like those listed, but often just put my "Best of Prince" playlist on random shuffle. 500+ songs I've rated 5 stars on iTunes (51 hours of music). I like that there's always something good coming on next, but I never know what it'll be. A few nights ago I tried something different - I turned shuffle off and just started listening to it in alphabetical order by album.

After listening to about half of it in order, I've enjoyed that so much last night I switched to my All of Prince playlist - over 1400 tracks and about 130 hours of music and am doing the same thing. I skip a few tracks doing it this way when things get repetitive (i.e. 7 different remixes of the same song in order).

The thing I noticed going through the first list is how many albums I don't really listen to much actually had a lot of songs in my best of list. She said "I don't want to like a guy who dresses like a girl". ugh. Anyway, I figure if I make her a great playlist, just maybe I can get one of my kids to like Prince. I'm kind of at a loss of where to start, though. Maybe just talk her into watching Sign O the Times one time?

I dont see sign of the times as a good album to introduce someone to prince, maybe purple rain or one of his hit singles (kiss, raspberry beret)

Curious....What is the flow like from "New Position" to "River Run Dry"? For some reason I can't see anything following "New Position" except "I Wonder U". I guess only because that's the flow of the album. And I guess the same goes from "Mountains" (Extended) to "I Wonder U"...

Try it out, It works pretty good, I love the New Position - River Run Dry flow

You're right. Those drums do kind of go good together. I can hear it. And I forgot about the fade in at the end of the 12" of "Mountains". It does blend in with the drums on "I Wonder U". Nice.
