What kind of guitar effect...

What kind of guitar effect is Prince using on The Ride (version from The Undertaker) that makes his guitar sound so alien and bendy-like?

I have no idea, there are many guitar effects that Prince impresses me with, maybe try Artist Community forum here, maybe someone there can help, although there seems to be plenty of guitar players that post on this forum from time to time , maybe one of them will let you know!!

Could be a combination of a wah-wah and the Digitech Whammy.

I thought he was using a Coloursound wah for that

From GUITAR WORLD NOV 1994:

"A Roland GP-16, which is used for pitch bend effects (o+> also has a Roland VCA expression pedal which is asigned to the GP-16, enabling him to control pitch variations in real time) and two

ZOOM 9030's".

I'm actually kind of glad he stopped using it.

I wish he'd stop using whatever he's using now, because it sounds terrible. All that highly processed digital junk - yuk.

What was wrong with his 80s setup? It was perfect.

Since 2006 or so, the Roland fc-100 foot controller had not been seen in the pedal-setup. Therefore, no rackprocessors. But - the only digital effects, on the floor, he is using now, is a Digitech whammy a Line 6 mm-4, a Boss flanger and a Boss dd-3.

It's a patch on the ZOOM 9030 that is an envolope filter and wah. I used to have one but it broke. I love that sound so much.

I always described it like and elastic band and a duck.

- Well, I dont remember that Ride version, but Prince always used Digitech Whammy a lot.

Illuminations

When used properly, the digitech whammy can be an awesome tool... when used properly
