Hello fellow Prince fans,

I will begin by admitting that I am a relatively new Prince fan and that I have never before posted to a discussion list like this one. I hope you will forgive me if my post seems inappropriate for this forum or too naive.

I have lots of question I'd like to ask those of you who seem to be veterans here. But the first one (and I hope it makes sense to you!) is this: What does "purple rain" (the term, phrase) MEAN? What is Prince singing about in this song?

I cannot answer your question, (a) because I have no idea, and (b) I actually don't care, but there are a lot of people who do.

Thank you for your polite response! I noticed that thread after I sent my post which I had been wanting to send for several days! I'm going with the poster in that thread who thinks the song concerns someone she knew who was involved with him until a tearful New Year's Eve.

i am posting here...cause the other thread is

to me purple rain is a song about hurting someone and telling them you're sorry

i only want to see u in the purple rain is wanting to see that person happy..in a wonderful place

some where unique and amazing... like purple rain

it's just my interpretation.... haters
