I just gotta ask...Had the interview been with Prince instead... How do you think it would have played out? I think Prince would have tap danced all over Bashirs face and flipped the script. I think Bashir would have come out looking like a complete idiot. The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon...dammit!

Boring.Prince never says much in His Interviews IMHO.10 Years Back would have been interesting.if Prince did a Tabloid type of Q&A&Came Clean on His Work,Associates,etc... then maybe but knowing Prince it would be a Snorefest. mistermaxxx

He did a Lary King Live recently and it was preety cool, since his "transformation" he is easier to interview or at least it appears so but who know what the arrangements are prior to the actual interview. BUT if he would have been asked about his child I wonder what the reaction would be??? We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

I didn't know that Prince was on Larry King. What did he basically say?
Mistermaxx: Yeah, you could be right. Then again, I don't know. I kind of picture Prince as being very witty. I could see him being so verbally adept that Bashir would have given up. The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon...dammit!

I saw that Larry King Q&A& I was Bored. He had Larry Graham with Him.the funniest thing was when Prince played it off like He couldn't remember Owen Husney His First Manager. He said His Name Escapes Me.Prince throws a good one-Liner out there but that's it&a Quiet Q&A.I haven't been that Impressed with His Interviews over the years in all Honesty.I bought the Guitar,Bass,Drums&Keyboard magazines&Musician Magazine&He didn't really say much for me.Mistermaxx: Yeah, you could be right. A Prince special would have to be done under different standards, he doesn't have thet universal appeal for juicy tabloid gossip that MJ has cultivated.
P is also vocally conservative and would be too weary of letting his enigmatic shield down. He'd never allow his all the barriers down to be portrayed as a freakshow.

I wouldn't have watched. It makes my stomach turn to hear him interviewed. As much as I enjoy getting pissed off by Prince, it's really hard to take when it comes from the horse's(-ass's) own mouth.

There ya go. Prince is too aprehensive with reporters in the first place, less so now than during the first 3/4 of his career, but still, he's too private for an almost no-holds-barred interrogation. And quite frankly I don't blame him for that in the least. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I think prince would've smile in2 the camera and gave bashir the finger, then left the room with no explanation
The edits wouldn't have been nesscary it would've lasted only three minutes. [This message was edited Fri Feb 7 15:46:58 PST 2003 by DigitalLisa]

It would have had half the audience, and half the time... (plus, he's half Michael's size... )
I remember when he did that MTV interview... he made the VJ ask the questions thru his manager... Then he'd answer all "campy" and "dramatic"... it was when ATWIAD came out. Those were the good ole days. |

PRINCE IS FAR TOO SAVVY TO EXPOSE HIMSELF IN A PUBLIC FORUM.
One thing's certain though - Unlike the Jackson 'interview' any documentary on Prince will almost certainly focus on the music. M.2.K

Well, the screen certainly would have been more pleasing to the eye... huh... as 4 me, i'ma answer your question like this: it woulda been hella fun if it were done back in the days when p totally phucked with the press in interviews and such...if it were done now, i'd probably lose interest super-fast, cuz ol' boy wouldn't be all that forthcomin...that, and he'd probably get a titch on the preachy side. mine!!!

I just re-watched the interview with TAVIS SMILEY and Prince. It was pretty pathetic to watch this again and see Prince bring out his big brother Larry G. and Chak K.
Man Talk about sounding like an idiot and never getting off the slave issue with Warners. I found it hard to watch 1.5 hrs of this and acutally try to enjoy it. I would like to see him do a current interview in his new state of mind and listen to his future plans and music ideas. Peace. . "

I think if Prince ever done a honest expose on his life and his work, etc, He wouldn't let an outsider control the final product (that's where Jackson fucked up). Prince would let someone interview him and be in the editing of it before it was shown.
Michael Jackson said he felt "Betrayed" by the interviewer, Prince would have 2 have an elelment of control (as we all know). Martin Bashir is a wanker anyhow, he spent most of the interview trying to be cool by driving around in his convertable car at dusk with his sunglasses on. All other issues aside, Michael Jackson just does not seem intelligent to me. He doesn't seem educated at all (in schooling or in life) and seems very naive to the world.
Prince, on the other hand, seems very educated, intelligent, and well-spoken. Not to mention that his life experience just seems on a higher level (relationships, marriages, etc.) I think an interview with Prince would be more interesting in a "biography" way, but MJ's interview was interesting like a car crash. Plus, keep in mind that Prince didn't have the ideal childhood either - but he's relatively normal compared to MJ.

I Prince interview isnt an interview at all. Its basically Prince issuing an official statement under the false scenario of an interview.

This depends on so many factors:Prince's mood, the interviewer'sknowledge of Prince and of music,in general, how comfy the interviewer made Princ, etc.I saw Prince on Jay Leno and laughed and I saw him with Kurt Loder and laughed...it all depends. "I'm a pig..so,magic elixir I swill"
