I've reported this illigitimate item in the past but the seller just keeps making new ID names. He buys a few feedback comments and then re-lists this junk.

DO NOT let this seller fool you with the false claims to having "Rights" to sell this music video compilation.

They are DVD-r media with logoed ETV, Promoonly.com and VH1 music videos.

There are a couple of Prince videos in this collection of illegal dvds.

There is absoulutely no commerical item of this nature and
I can guarentee the artists are not getting their royalties out of this theif.

Prince knows what his works are on and this aint one of them. Don't take my word for it........Make a "buy" and see for yourselves.

WE DO KNOW Prince is not getting a penny from bootlegs and we are fine with it.

Prince could be even finer if he wasn't a prick and sold them himself.

He doesn't? Well, then someone will have to do the job.

The problem is not 'advertising these are counterfeits'. The question is advising people NOT TO PAY money for bootlegs when they're SO EASY to get for free.

So are you hoping to be declared a national hero because of this thread?

If you're gonna report every bootleg you see for sale you'll easily end up not having the time to do anything else.

Ebay is packed with people selling bootlegs. But the only really bad thing about this is when some charge money for boots released by FREE labels and intended to be circulating for free. That's THE problem.

Since the org is somewhat of an 'ass-lickers paradise' you'll probably find more people who will condemn boots 'because they are evil'.

But the vast majority of real fans are loaded with them and keep getting more and more.

People give a damn, it's just that there really is not a lot can be done to stop it.

As you mention yourself, reporting this person has not worked, and if it was not him/her selling this stuff then it would be someone else. That's not to say that it's right, it's just the way it is and has been for a long time, and will probably continue to be.

As vitriol mentioned in his post, all you can really do is advise people not to pay for bootlegs.

At least I think you have done the right thing and shown people who this person is, but sadly, there will always be someone willing to part with money for material like this, and while there are those people willing to pay, there will always be the people willing to charge money for it.

I'm kinda amazed how awash with bootlegs eBay is these days, I don't think they care any more.

When I tried to sell some on there about 6/7 years ago they were whipped down almost as soon as they were put up. - These weren't CD-r's or free releases though, they were genuine pressed Moonraker/Thunderball etc.

I did once report a soundclick user who were posting instrumental Prince bootlegs as his own. It was quickly taken down.

However like vitrol said, had Prince just easily put these already heard bootleg material out to us fans, things like this could not happen.

I also agree with him that they should never ever be sold because no one owns the material but Prince.

^Of course. If someone is to make profit off bootlegs that someone must only be Prince.

We fans only want the art. But we WANT it.

Ebay USA is even more awash with the buggers, I counted over twenty of them on the first 5 pages alone on a "Prince - cd" search a couple of weeks ago.

Crazy. And they were not factory silvers either.

They don't care. Their policies make out that they are concerned with piracy and copyright violation, but I think it's a safe bet that they have insufficient resource to assess the merits of any complaint, no matter how justified and would only start taking some action if the copyright holder made a complaint.
