The Sacrifice of Victor, yay or nay? Ok, guys, this is a biggie. You either love this song or hate it. Want to see if the room agrees with me that is a classic song. Prince being brutally honest for once with his lyrics. Tony M actually not getting on your nerves. A really well conceived pop song.
I love it, a great ending to the Symbol album. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Great song, very introspective, very honest and deep lyrics. The music is not really my cup of tea but hey, I still like this song very much.
At first I was wondering whether this thread was dedicated to 1. the book , or 2. the video release, or 3. the song.
I think this song and that interview he did with Tavis Smiley were the only occasions where he openly mentioned his struggles with epilepsy. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

It's his attempt at hip/hop pop/soul. Obviously a good example. All you others say Hell Yea!!

I like the lyrics, I like the drum sound, I don't like anything else about it.
Good album though (the original one with the silly segues intact).

I remember at the time I used think it was very Lovesexy (probably the horns and falsetto), but now I hear just a natural progession to the material on Come - that beat is so high in the mix, it drowns out everything else but the vocals, very "bombastic" (the trademark phrase for ).
I don't dislike it, but it's not really doing enough to keep my interest other than the last minute gospel liftoff. The Steeles are great though, would've liked to hear more of them and Prince together vocally.

That is a good description of the sound around this time, that totally ott bass, usually without much in the way of melody. It was in a few tracks. Most prominent in SOV and My Name Is Prince I guess.

It's a sound collage. Noisy like good rap should be.
The horns kill it.
Aunt Esther is genius. All you others say Hell Yea!!

The Steeles' backing vocals, another high.

I love it. I too was born with a cord around my neck. In fact, the doctor told my dad that I was dead, and that they'd try to save my mom.
Luckily, they tried one more time on me. That's why I never get mad. I'm truly lucky to be here.

I suppose you have to love hip hop and rap. It's not awful but I'd never put it on my ipod. In fact it's the first time I'm listening to it all the way through. The chorus sounds similar to something on GB.
It's the tin sounding drum the whole way through I don't like. It sounds like metal.
Some funky parts but no. Nay for me. It's too noisy and it sounds untidy.

Love it. Great ending for the album. Took a while to grow on me. The dissonant horns and the martika's kitchen keys along withthe bass didn't do much for me. Love it all now. It all seems to work now. Would love to hear an extended version. Not sure why you got to love hiphop/rap to like this....but their your ears I suppose.

Always thought it was ok but after seeing the live version on 'Ryde Divine' I love it. As others have said its a great mix of gospel/hip hop/soul. I even cant help but like Tony's 'S-A-C-R-I-F-C-E'

I didn't like it at the time because to me, it was just the beat from Martika's Kitchen with some new lyrics & horns. It grew on me though. Still think it's a bit busy, but it's ok. blah blah blah

"NPG in mass attack"..... so funky.
I wonder why some of you dislikes it.
But OK cool, I have this song on repeat right now....

I only dig the last 25 seconds of the song. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Not a great song. Disappointing end to the album given how dramatic the title sounds. Bit I kinda like the live version on The Ryde Divine. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

Yay! Love it. He opened with this at the aftershow I saw in Chicago on the Act I tour. Great show, heavy on guitar. Lot's of new material at the time. TRUE BLUE

The arrangement is very busy and dense, but crazy enough for me to appreciate it. I like the track very much.
You're referring to Elephants And Flowers. How dare you call that song "something"?
