"Parade" documentary update Just wanted to check in with you guys about the documentary I'm making about "Parade" for XFM (big UK radio station).
Just conducted a 40 minute interview with Dr Fink - legend and such a nice guy, was more than happy to go into detail and answer all the questions we asked. Obviously since the documentary is only an hour long, it'll be edited down to the most relevant stuff regarding the album, but we should be able to upload the entire interview online after the documentary goes out at the end of April.
We've also got Bobby Friction (BBC R1/Asian Network DJ and huge fan) giving his views on the album, we have Bill Oddie talking about Prince, I'm gonna be in the documentary talking about my favorite tracks on the album and the story of "Kiss" being created (talking about Mazarati and David Z), Brett Anderson from the band Suede went out of his way to talk about the album for us as he's a huge fan, and we'll hopefully be conducting an interview with Clare Fischer next week too regarding his input on the album..... we touched on some other stuff that happened in 1986 such as Manic Monday being a hit (and credited to Christopher Tracy)...
All in all, we're hoping for something that will be of interest to hardcore fans as well as casual listeners who might not be too familiar with the album (the album will also be played in full immediately after the documentary goes out).
It will be streamed online so you'll all be able to hear it! I don't expect to please everyone - but we've approached the whole project with passion and I hope that will be apparent in the final edit!
Peace.... |

Really looking forward to the Clare Fischer interview, he added so much to Prince's sound back in the day, Pink Cashmere being the crowning glory (imo)... O+>

Bill Oddie is a huge Prince fan, has been since the early days. Was he not present at Prince's first ever UK show?

Yep, and he mentions it in the interview. I forget whether he specifically stated it was the first.... but he mentions it being around the "Dirty Mind" era. |

excellent, I really look forward to it. I was 17 when Parade came out, already a hardcore fan but the album's fresh yet funky sound blew me away. So classy, I always thought of it as Funk D'Azure...

Anything that is done with passion gets my vote.
I look forward to it Militant. Thanks for doing it for us. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.

He also said that The Truth is his favourite and the most underrated album.
Can't wait for this documentry, The fact that you've interviewed the right people bodes well. It would be interesting to here Wendy & Lisas take on the album as it was there last and they had so much creative input into it.
