Prince performed the solo as if he was possessed.

I think it's the first time in the past few years that I've seen him play that song with some emotion. He's been playing that song petty much perfunctorily until now, and he's looked like he was just going through the motions.

it's a killer. I'm glad he's connected with this song again. and when you see his face, damn has he ever re-connected to it. there's a thread floating around here from awhile back that discusses it more.

I recently saw the video, absolutely incredible.

That song alone would have been worth the price of a ticket to that concert.

but after watching a performance like that...

either he is a great actor or passion for the music is still there.

I am totaly onboard with this post. I have seen him perform this song countless times and usually always does a great job but I think this was the best performance of this song I have ever seen. Even better than the American Music Awards 1985 which was damn good as well but this was the best!! I hope those in attendance were able to capture this.

I was there and it brought me almost to tears , i guess it was one of these rare ,very special moments in time....

This performance is in my top 3 fave/best performances of P of all time. Its an amazing song and an amazing performance...wow. I have to watch it everynight, it reminds me (as if I could forget) why I love P so much! That performance is spectacular. The "soul" in his voice is amazing, it really sounds so strong and powerful, I am in awe of how amazing his voice sounds live and how much emotion he has while singing this song. I can see this song still hits him deep and therefore, I feel it more. Really special for me as this was the song for me as a kid. That is the best performance of this song. Love that guitar solo, his facial expression during it were orgasmic. Not to mention that little squeal right before he started the solo...WOW!! Oh and the fact that he looked sexier than ever helped alot too! I love this performance so much, its on my phone so I can watch it anytime I want!

This performance is just incredible I mean seriously! Prince did the WORK PT.Infinity within his song..Hahaha. His facial expressions cite true joy and understanding within the harmony and truth of what he is delivering. This I MUST say is one of my FAVORITE performance of Purple Rain! I have seen on footage (NOT LIVE JUST YET..lol) Prince perform Purple rain countless times, and this performance to me is just breathing in emotion of truth and feeling. I watch it at least 3 times a week, and during the day out of the week maybe 7 times on repeat! lol. It's also the performance of me responsible of me picking up the guitar again! This is the first time I heard Purple rain and actually cried to the lyrics and that guitar solo! DANG! It reminds me why I am Prince fan to begin with! I showed my girlfriend this an she admitted to me that this is spectacular even as she gets tired of me listening to Prince, she even understood this is going to go down as one of his best displays yet! ALL OF HIS PERFORMANCES HAVE SOMETHING NEW! WOW is what I say all of the time while watching this, it's Prince in his finest form. He is a true musician, and one who seriously always does it for the music and the meaning within his soul. He is created to do this and as long as I live, I intend on becoming more consumed on all of his art! I have to thank the crown Milan for delivering such high energies!

I was there too... I was absolutely blown away by his amazing performance. It was so genuine, so powerful and so full of emotions. It was like being hit by a brick, but in a good way. I am so grateful that I was able to witness this performance.

If it's the performance of Purple Rain on the V*meo site, then yeah, he displayed a lot more emotion than usual in this one...almost as if he's thinking about the past and holding back tears...good to see..

i was so lucky to be there... i knew something great was gonna kick off when he started messing with his nipple seriously the energy in the crowd was on overload & i'm certain he channels out to some otherworldly place. it made me breathless, it was better than good sex, beautiful & very exciting.

i also think his shirt made him do it.

This unique performance brought me to tears when I was there, witnessing it live, and it still has the same effect on me when I watch the video. The emotions are so strong, I am deeply touched every time. And it does look as if Prince was fighting back tears, too. What a very special moment to experience such a great musician being so emotional while playing his biggest hit. *totally in awe*

Yes, I agree with everything you said, famosA. And I also always like how Prince says "you reach out for me, I reach out for you" as well as when he asks "are you feeling good tonight?" and then says "me, too". It was all so special.
