The movie format was changed. It was originally a musical and the stars did record the songs.

The songs that the actors and actress' sang were terrible.

And Nick Nolte's version of "Be My Mirror" was bone crunchingly bad.

I quite like Tracy Ulman's version of ...is it Don't Talk 2 Strangers??? she has good singing voice anyhow.

But I happen to adore the songs Prince wrote for the movie (sung by his truly) except for the majority of the ballads ('I can't love u anymore' being the exception).

Yes, Prince's versions are very good indeed. And I agree about "I Can't Love U Anymore," that song sounds a bit forced to me.

I meant that I love mostly all the songs Prince wrote for the movie except for the ballads (Be my mirror, Don't talk 2 strangers, There is lonely).

And that I really liked 'I can't love U anymore'!!

Poor little bastard is another outstanding track but was left off the project in its initial stages. I'm sure Prince discarded it because of its similarities with Damn U. They're indeed quite similar jazzy-soul 12/8 efforts.
