What did you guys think of this? My friends in high school asked me what was wrong with Prince when this came out...it was pretty cringeworthy.

I think it's great, crazy funk akin to Partyman which was the song that hooked me onto the boy.

I understand why some people find the lyrics cringeworthy and all that, but the music kicks ass. It's hard funk/rock at its best, I like the phrasing and delivery of the vocals (it sounds very fresh and on-point) and the drum work is simply fantastic.

As impressive as some of the music seems, I really think it is hands down one of the worst songs he has ever made.

As stated above by people, the music is good, but the lyrics sound silly now.

It reminds me (musically) of Glass Cutter, which is a much better song.

Considering it was a free download when I got it, I can't be that mad about it but it's the definition of 'throwaway'.

I actually quite like it! adsolute genius compared to Purple And Gold!

music is decent. but it's brought down by the lyrics. even more so by the vocals he uses to deliver them.

Yeah the music was fine. Would work as a nice instrumental jam. The chorus is really what made me turn it down a bit. That "hall of Prince voices in deep" never worked with me at all. Wall of Chakas maybe but....

the multi-layered vocals work on some songs. it just never really works on a pop-rock song for him. it's my main problem with Cause & Effect as well.
