Cindy C adoration thread.

I've been on a major Black album trip lately. Cindy C is the jam for me! Love the subtle funky guitar licks in the background and Prince's vocals on the final chorus.

Lemme hear some love for this overlooked gem.

great song, dirty and funky, back when Prince was near his creative peak. My fav on the black album and probably among my top 50 Prince songs overall.

...and what's more I dare anyone to even attempt to do a cover of this song...I mean the guitar riffs yes but, THE KEYBOARDS!... I swear he is making up most of those layered keyboard riffs as he is going along recording the song...of course, this is his talent...

Probably more than half the people that like this track will not even know who Cindy C actually is. lol

The only downside to the song is that Prince makes no reference to her mole.

Cindy C is alright, but the jam is "Rock Hard in a Funky Place". This is the jam that I have been listening to for the last few days...(Foefur's Remaster of the Black Album).cool cool

I like this song, and all the music of this period, but it is a time of transformation, and one that ultimately did not help Prince.

It seems he was more focused on the music as a whole than on the songwriting. When 2 R In Love aside, the songwriting is not that impressive on the Black Album.

The music more than makes up for it, but today you see songs that are not as good as back in the 80's and music that is not as interesting.

Perhaps Prince would have been better off focusing more on songwriting and less on the performance/recording. But then, maybe he did not want to have the same level of success as he had with Little Red Corvette & Kiss. At times it seemed like he did not, and that he prefers his rather cult status, and the process of recording songs that seem a little premature.

Well the albyum was only inteded for a Sheila E. birthday party...I didnt think that he wanted it to be a serious album to being with..hence..Lovesexy sounding so serious.

I have no problem with it not being serious, actually I have no problem with it at all.

I'm just saying he seemed to stop focusing on songwriting in favor of focusing on a sound or an overall musical vibe. Lovesexy is the same. Eye No, Love Sexy, Positivity, even Anastesia are not tremendous compositions, even if they are great songs on the record.

What I mean is the nucleus of the song is very simple. It works for those albums, but now that he does not seem quite as creative, the weak songwriting of a song like 4Ever cannot be saved by the arrangement (in my opinion, of course)

Just an observation, not a criticizm of the Black Album. But compare it to Parade where the songwriting seemed more structured.

FUCK ME YES! love

Whenever this song comes on, I can't listen to it sitting still .. I literally have to get up and shake my ass off. And once the song is over, I have to play it again and keep dancing. It's way too good.
