The Kevin Smith interview was scary

Because in some ways he portrayed Prince as a completely screwed-up freak just like Jacko - no grasp of reality.

I think history has proven that the most impressive and most unique artists who have the most impact on their art form and society in general, all have been slightly out of touch with reality.

If those unique artists thought and felt the way the rest of us do, they would not be the unique artists that they are.

To call Prince "weird" or "screwed up" at this point in the game is almost laughable. It begs the question "Where have you been since 1978?"

Well maybe if I had the $$$ & power to live in my own little world, I would do the same - dunno... neutral

It is kinda strange knowing you couldn't just sit down & have a conversation w/ the guy, that he might lose you or be straight up dismissive. But hey, "if the bra fits"... :O lol

I still love him - we ain't gotta talk, I can just listen music
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

I don't understand, I assume you have been following Prince from sometime now so your post makes no sense. Of course he is strange and quirky but that is what drives his uniqueness. Noone with exceptional creativity like Prince is going to be normal that's what makes him Prince otherwise he would be some average everyday person like you!!!

Well I think that is a bit strong about MJ being sick but yes Prince is strange and MJ is troubled a big difference.

The interview reads like he's just doing his own thing. He's in his own world.

That's not a bad thing at all - wouldn't say it was scary. I've met people like that (although probably not as extreme!).

It sounds to me like he chose a long time ago not to keep in touch with 'reality'.

But I think the originality and freshness of his music is entirely because he's in his own world. He has his own unique perspective on things and that comes through in his music. You can't separate the 2. If he was down to earth and ordinary - his music would be the same.

In fact - it's when he's tried to conform and retain touch with 'reality' that his music has become 'ordinary'.

His recent return to form is IMO an indication that he's completely given up on 'reality' and is out there doing his own thing! And long may it continue.

Prince is spoiled, wealthy, controlling and strange. And at times he knows it and adjusts his attitude.

Michael Jackson is all those things on top of being mentally ill. But Michael is also oblivious to all of it, all the time.

I loved it!! it was funny..

BUT reading through the lines and knowing Prince's Vibe..

I know what he was asking of Kevin..

Prince always pushes Artist.. he tell musicans all the time that he has maybe 4 songs he wants them to lay vocals down on in 1 night..

They moan and complain.. (like kevin).. but 99% of the time they finish the job, and find out what their made of!! you surprise yourself smile

** What I thought was great was: That Prince has 50 + Music Videos of songs we never heard off!!!

Translation: Prince is sooo smart that he is making Videos & songs WE in our lifetime will never hear! Which means in 200 years MTV will have new songs..new videos of Prince!

NOW whoelse thought of this... NO ONE!! do you think anyone else has 2000 songs in a vault & over 50 videos for the future after we all die! amazing!!! so when everyone we know now dies, they wont have any music videos for the future generations BUT the ones we have seen. (prince has 50 +) wink

~everyone get sooo excited when they find a half recorded song from a dead icon : the doors, john lennon, elvis.. anyone and they all sell!

Prince has a gameplan.. kevin was just there for 1 week and made a nice funny rant.. but you must read between the lines!

I feel sorry for Kevin Smith... it's tough when one's heroes and icons turn out to be not very nice...
but at least Kevin came out of it looking ok... even if Clerks is the only decent film hes done.

I would Dig A MJ Neverland&then a Prince Paisley Park back to back shows.I would Pop Pop-Corn&Crack My Black Ass off.these Two Cats at there Own Worlds truly crack me up.too funny.Mike&Prince could easily get Spike Lee to Direct them in a Comedy tag Team Show.as for Kevin Smith:"Clerks" is all I like by Him but He trips me out.
