Madness, one final question:

You joined this site only to post your "experience", am i right?

Have you ever thought about this being the wrong place to talk about stuff like that?

So...she went to a Prince concert and wanted to share how she felt about the show, but a Prince fan site isn't where she should do that? ohgoon

Its none of your business why I decided to post this here, any more than it is my business to ask why you asked me, or why you are so angry.

Totally wrong. Of course, if you're posting on a public forum, it's your part to explaing to people why you posted this or that at all. The thing is, in 90% of all cases, people wouldn't ever doubt the reason or motivation of somebody's post. In your case it's the opposite: Everybody's wondering what's wrong with you.

i don't have any illusions, in fact, quite the contrary. And that probably scares some people.

Totally wrong. Of course you're having illusions. Illusions about life, about "gurus", about people in general and Prince particularly. These illusions are scaring people, because they're SO off.

i am very honest and open and unashamed about who i am and what i have experienced.

Maybe you would like to start exactly here: The majority of humans on the internet isn't interested in "what anybody has experienced". This is a forum about Prince (the musician) and his music. Your metaphysical claptrap isn't interesting anybody here, except for some other "guru followers", obviously.

for me, this experience has become a part of who i am.

So, after one Prince show and some 5 days, you changed your mind on who you are? Poor goo.

... from the majority of feedback I have received, i am really really glad I came forward with my story...

You know what the majority is? I don't.

Still, I think at least the majority on this thread was bashing you. The other 99% of Prince.org decided better not to leave any reply to your nonsense. Why is that? What do you think? Because you were so convincing?

Let me tell you another thing: There are a LOT of Prince sites beyond this place. You managed to become today's talk of the town on plenty of them. There are hundreds of people shaking their head about what you're writing here - ranging from mere disbelief to broad laughter. They just don't even bother to post on the org anymore since a long time.

... if you have such a problem with the thread, why do you keep writing on it? send me an email and spare others your venom...

I wouldn't care if your bs wasn't so dangerous. That's the one and only point i tried to make from the beginning on. And THAT isn't a point i wanted to send you in private, because it would've been senseless. THAT is a point i wanted to put in public objection to your stuff, because i wanted it to be read. Read by the people that otherwise might possible be too fascinated by your science fiction tales. Now you're hating me because i dare to doubt your "experience". You may wanna visit me at home and experience my ass. It'll be mind bending, believe me.

Ok, understood.

So, as a scientist, what is your definition of "everybody" in your statement about everybody wondering what's wrong with her, bearing in mind that several people posted to the contrary.

Also, how do you know that 99% decided not to reply to her 'nonsense' (as opposed to not reading it, being a lurker by nature, not wanting to subject themselves to what naturally followed, etc...)?

Oh, and how you know that everybody's wondering what's wrong with her and that 99% don't want to reply, despite the fact that you stated that you don't know what the majority is?

Actually, scrap that.

I'd much rather see threads like these than fights about how black Prince's girlfriends are (or aren't), fights about whether or not Prince is justified in not paying outstanding debts, photos that show Prince's junk (or photoshopped depictions of such), etc...

When I wanna hear gospel I put on his more spiritual work. I get a feeling when I listen to his work to and cant help but to dance. I think its just the funk. That physicality of any music can come across as a spiritual experience. I live in MS and grew up in the Apostolic church. When I was a kid I remember people getting in the holy spirit running and dancing while the piano player played. There is def a connection between feeling a boost of spiritual energy through movement and sound.

An interesting experience Madness and I enjoyed the links, thanks. I'm glad you ignore those who negate your own real life experience and that you realise "one puff of weed" could have had a hand in it. I understand you're discovering other depths of consciousness due to your own life experiences and your endeavours to deal with them. Out of the ordinary events do tend to waken us, when we've been almost lulled into desensitised habitual reality. Therefore, in those moments when we do literally "lose our heads" we get in touch/are aware of , heightened senses. I completely agree.

I feel language always falls short in being able to describe such experiences of being "at one with the entire universe." There are so many paths, sciences and names to label it, but it is hard to put feelings which throw us in full "being" into words. I think anyone can experience it but that not everyone does, and that although random events can precipitate it, the Arts lend the most helping hand, to being able to "move inside ourselves." As the Arts are pleasurable, people's defences/pretences are normally low and therefore more open to alternative senses. But what's important, is that through experiencing Art, with our senses and not biological substance use, (which provide a quick superficial alternative reality) one reaches that experience slowly and naturally.

You might find the book Conversation with God, book 1 worth a read and also have a look into Transcendental Meditation (Transcendental Medication) haha alway like that slip of the tongue. smile

People can laugh about this kind of stuff but not many of us can sit down for 20 minutes twice a day and train your mind to "not think at all " for that brief period. Myself included. That is why, it is also an Art. Breathing alone can alter your reality. Or, transcend your normal state of consciousness, as you'll find in TM. The founder was the guru Maharish Masesh Yogi.

I would also recommend reading the religious books. I find great depths of beauty in all of them. The Quoran I find is the most poetic about life, The Bahgavad Gita the most spiritual and the Bible the most educational about unconditional love. I will say, in all books I find contradictions and things I don't agree with, but the positives by far outweigh those little dilemmas.

Experiencing moments of intense joy, when Prince and others in the Arts share "their moments of being at complete oneness with the universe" I feel, are essential in balancing out our realistic lives, which involve lots of practicality and societal compromise. Humans who strive to find perfect balance between the two, I think, are the most peaceful and they emulate the miracle of nature at its best. Enjoy your path!

I respect your post and admire your honesty. Truth is hundreds of thousands of people have had the same experience you've had at Prince concerts or simply listening to his music. If this were not the case Prince would not be as popular for as long as he's been.

Some people may ignore this awakening and others may not know how to describe it, while others will deny it because they cannot comprehend and/or it may diminish what they're comfortable with, so please do not be discouraged by the posts here; instead consider yourself fortunate.

One of the beautiful attributes Prince has is his acceptance that he is a vessel of God's work. Its comforting and uplifting if not only to observe it in process; and, if you're in tune with it, the bonus is you also get to be a recipient of this blessing, as you experienced and have described.

My daughter who had never seen Prince in concert had a similar experience at the Wednesday February 23rd concert. And knowing her, I recognize that Prince's spiritual ability is there for those who are open to it and who can meet on that certain plain of consciousness.

Much love to you.

Been a loooong time i heard somebody mentioning "a guru" on a serious note.

So you really think you're "flying blind" without "a guru", yeah?

I think that's where our little discussion has to be ended, since i only talk to people that think for themselves. Shit, i can't believe i'm even answering that...

BTW: Who's YOUR guru? There were a lot of impressive "gurus" in history. Jim Jones was cool. Manson wasn't bad either. Oh, and there was Hitler. The greatest "guru" of all times, eh?

Seriously, what once was a website where fans of the music of Prince would come together, has become a total mental home. Unbelievable. You lot is c-r-a-z-y, literally.

[Edited 3/4/11 16:53pm]

Those aren't true Gurus FunkyDiss, and you know it.

In contemporary India, the word "guru" is widely used with the general meaning of "teacher". In Western usage, the meaning of guru has been extended to cover anyone who acquires followers, though not necessarily in an established school of philosophy or religion.

When I speak of Guru, I am speaking of a teacher, not someone who just acquires followers. A true Guru would not ask you to do anything that is against the Divine Nature. They would not ask you to take a life, nor the life of another, for all life is sacred. So to even suggest those individuals were "gurus" is beyond my comprehension. They were fanatics and cult leaders who thought only of themself and their desires. A true Guru has no desire except to see his/her disciple enlightened, basking in the Light of the Divine.

Have you ever been to church in Africa? I lived in Zambia briefly and definitely what I experienced at the show paralleled what I saw (but never experienced) in Lusaka. I think that the relationship between God and music has been intertwined for longer than we can imagine....

Though I will say that this is not an experience I even expected to have in my life, much less at a concert...

I think we all have the capacity to tap into God/channel, but most of us choose not to... But we all can (watch the video I linked to in my original post)

Prince in't the Messiah, I'm not trying to say that... but he vibrates at a VERY high frequency, and if you tap into that frequency, surrender, and vibrate there... the experience is completely transformative and beyond words.

I hope you are able to have this experience, though music, or through anything!

Love.

I have been to Africa, but not to a church there. And I don't see Prince at all like you see him. And I don't think I would even want this experience, but I am one of the people who choose to not to. But thanks for your wishes biggrin .

Hmm, I have heard about this experience. I met this italian pastor once who had been a missionary in Africa (Zambia for 5years) that spoke of this in a sermon. It was truly enlightening and made me hunger for that kind of experience. I did receive it thankfully and wow, it changes your life.

And I somewhat understand what you experienced at the concert. I experienced this at a Prince concert last year and wrote extensively on it. It wasn't that I experienced GOD for the first time like you, but I definately saw GOD in Prince. And I didn't have anything to smoke! lol I do remember thinking to myself, this must be what its like to be on drugs or something. I mean, Prince just stood there, and wow!

It was AMAZING!! Prince just embodies this divine spirit that I haven't seen in too many other people. I've seen it only in 1 other musician. Congratulations!! When you do see GOD for the first time, its an experience that really rocks your world, you have to tell everyone about it, and it changes your life. And don't worry about the stupid comments, until they see/know HIM, they won't understand you...and that's cool. There are folks that do.

I shall say I don't think you had this Kundalini awakening though. Unless you just attribute it to this enormous bliss and infinite love regarding Prince. But I don't like anything associated to a serpent in relation to Prince. A cherub is more appropiate. lol

Exactly! I want to see more people, especially those new to the site, to speak out, post their views. Share your experiences, post your questions and thoughts, Anything positive about Prince or new fans discovering him or experiencing him SHOULD be celebrated, not frowned upon. This is a fan site for heavens sake! I enjoyed reading this and shared it with my family, and will share at work tonight. Prince is a divine creature of GOD who has opened himself up to GOD and all he has done for him in his life. Prince is a great spiritual example for those still on the search for GOD.
