think its time for prince to take another left turn with his music....i think he should go away and listen some recent radiohead albums .....i would love to see what prince would come up with if he absorbed some of the vibe that radiohead have been doing....

now i am not a big big fan of radiohead but i love the ' sound ' they get on most of their tracks....almost otherworldly ...and i love their new album for the soundscapes they can create and some of their songs are stunning...

.

i know he has covered 'creep' so he must know some of their music so time for him to take us somewhere new...

1. fuck radio head they suck and are boring

2. prince did listen to them and amazingly did a better version of creep than radio head ... unfortunately ...

3. prince listening to good music does not help .. take whole lotta love for example ... his version was pure crap .. and zep is one of the greats .. wouldnt it be nice if prince could get those kinds of tones on a record instead of the alluminum can sound he seems obsessed with perfecting

4. prince needs to listen to duran duran .. that was the true inspiration that brought out the good stuff in prince .. catchy songwriting .. he said he wanted that duran duran money and he did a good job getting it .. prince been making the same record for 20 years now .. radio head wont help .. theyve been doing the same thing

i agree. we all need some inpiration in life and that goes 4 prince 2. radiohead r easily 1

of the best bands in d world. t would be nice 2 get a rock album frm p again with intense lyrics.

people are soo touchy sometimes...every great artist needs inspiration....how do you think prince wrote all his great songs ?...by listening to other artists and using it to write his own great rock,pop and funk tracks....i am just using radiohead as an example of what he could delve into and make his own....as radiohead themselves have done......music is a great big mixing pot....i am just saying to prince its time to add some new ingredients again.....see if he can come up with another great recipe....

I agree. I think that it's obvious that between Prince and Dirty Mind that he was listening to some punk/new wave albums, that worked out pretty good. If Prince just attempted to copy Radiohead (or anyone else) the results probably would not be good but if he can find something in their sound (or anyone else's sound) that will push him to explore new ideas it could result in some great new music from him.

I have quite enjoyed Prince's music circa 2004-2010 but he does largely seem to be treading water and playing it fairly safe. I would love it if his next album gave us a sound and style that we have never heard him try before. I might not enjoy it but I would enjoy seeing him stretch himself and try something different.

radiohead are a bit artsy fartsy ....i agree... ...but they have made some interesting music and soundscapes .....ok computer is a brilliant album imo...the king of limbs ...their new release....has some great ideas in there...would love to hear what prince makes of it...

If so many like Radiohead, it means they must have something special.

But sorry, they bore me to death. I really tried hard to like them. I wanted to. I just can't. I don't like anything in their music.

Please Prince, carry on doing your thing. You can be wrong sometimes. But when I listen back to LF, TRC, NEWS or One Nite Alone, I can't help thinking that you know what you're doing.

Prince has always copied other artists. But his way of combinating and merging all of his inspiration makes it truly unique.
