Let's Pretend We're Married - condom commercial lol

I would love to see videos by members here making commercials from Prince music.

I think that would be halarious.

How about:

Raseberry beret for raseberry shampoo?

Or opening of Lets go crazy for a funeral home?

Or black sweat for a gym?

Or the one U wanna C for eyeglasses.

or uneedanotherloverlikeuneedaholenyourhead for a brain surgeon?

There doesnt necessarily need to be an association on a par with Like a Prayer with Pepsi. As a suggestion couldnt Prince make available all his none top 40 music. There surely is a huge list of music that could be used it doesn't have to be an endorsement

Now here comes the problem. Prince has around 30 top 40 songs. List your favorite Prince songs from 1 to 30. What song outside of that 30 will make you want to buy something? "Zannalee"? Will it be worth the cost to the advertiser?

Yeh all I mean is loads of music on adverts aren't famous just appropriate. I'm just thinkin this could be an arena where the music could be used, create money and promote other music possibly. I'm saying people dont have to even associate it as being Prince-just better than being in a vault. Prince can come to terms on revenue. Loads of Prince stuff outside his hits would probably be more appropriate for commercials-dont ask me which ones but if you are basing it on taste I bet you would find more people liking Shes always in my hair to Raspberry Beret or even Race compared to SOTT-not me but a lot would find them more familiar to their tastes

Usage of songs for commercials greatly diminshes the songs character giving them that cheap feel lol Look at Let's Get It On one of my fav from Marvin Gaye and now I don't listen to it as much cuz of it being used in commercials sad

The best time 4 Prince 2 license his songs would have been 4 the year ending 1999. He would have made millions off of the song "1999" 4 any product... eye think he passed on it because he would have had 2 share the profit with The WB. But eye bet U anything once he finishes getting back all his masters. Prince will start licensing his kids out 4 the highest bidder...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

I am glad he hasn't...many have sold out to large cooperations for the quick buck.

Prince has had to fight for his art, and his independence. Still amazed that on his

own, he's selling out stadiums; man does not need Coke Pepsi etc.

I do have a ticket for the Act II tour stating that Coca Cola presents.....

was this whole tour sponsored, or just the Dutch concert? (10th aug, 1993)

Well, the reality is that even now, Prince has to rope in additional sponsors or promoters to assist...but we haven't seen Prince do a MJ Pepsi vibe or advertising for McDonalds. If anything,

he's been very protective of his art and the purposes for which its used....perhaps a bit too

strict for some.

No, it was all the shows. The UK ones had Coca Cola shit hanging up everywhere.

I think the argument about cheapening his music has been thrown out the window since he has already done some of the same things people have said in this thread that "cheapen" his music and his image and his music. These lawsuits don't help either.

I am trying to help my brother by letting him consider this idea.

It's inevitable popular classic Prince songs will be in commercials. Whether in Prince's life not or thereafter.

Tina Turner did "Baby I'm a Star" for Target, and you can find it on You Tube. So he does license his songs to commercials.

I've read that he allowed his symbol to be used for a Corvette billboard near the factory. Fair trade considering they could've prevented him from using their car in his song. I'm sure someone has a photo of it somewhere...

Prince music has been used in commercials. Just use the search function for more detail info. I know that cream (music only-no vocals) was used for Pizza Hut commercial. LRC was used for Corvette.

I think it would be great to use some of his music in commercials again.

Speaking of licensing, I always wondered why he didn't let Kevin Smith use "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" but had no problem with him using "Jungle Love". I wonder what the distinction is.

I'd like to say he has more integrity, but I actually think it's probably more to do with the fee not being enough.

LRC was licensed to GM, for instance. And no, that was NOT WARNERS.

Bullshit. WB would have made little. The vast majority woudl have gone to Prince.

The whole European tour. Plus daily reports in "The Coca-Cola Report" on MTV Europe. There were also ads for Coca-Cola on the videoscreens, plus a huge prince with Coca-Cola beneath it in the middle of the concert hall.

for one of his perfumes? That would be different. He also uses his music for the ads for his concerts and albums.

It's music being used to sell something that isn't music. Yeah, it's a perfume "designed" by Prince and named after an album or a song -- that still doesn't make it music. If Prince licensed his music for ads for products that he uses, is that OK? Hell no. Same deal if it is his own shite.
