In 1986, his suits weren't really tailored to him. The ONA and Musicology suits maybe.

The 1986 suits were about 1-2 sizes too big for him, imo.

They were tailored they just looked too big and I think they are meant to as they are driven by the ridiculous shoulder pads. To be honest I always thought his suits looked cheap-that yellow one with the white buttons that everyone seems to like on here is horrible. At the time I believed he was reclaiming that the image of the Time (the group) actually belonged to him. I also think this helped weaken his career as it pulled the rug on the Purple Rain Prince that many casual fans liked-it kinda of made his previous incarnation as looking disingenuous-which it probably was. Purple Rain now seems the least part of Prince in the bigger picture.

I think this era was cool and yet I differentiate the Parade era from Under the Cherry Moon. This image to me is UTCM and I love it. Apart from the Kiss outfit the PArade tour doesnt rreflect what he wore in the film-like that amazing whate coat for example. I'm pretending that I never saw the lace tent that he wore in that film

I loved his look during the Graffiti Bridge Era- his long hair and that cool black-fringed jacket he wore. Then Purple Rain, then 1999 eras.
