I'm not mad at my boy...it's just that I was kinda hoping that he wouldn't go for the babies ALL of the time. For me it's looks a lil weird like almost she's his daughter. She is BEAUTIFUL but very young in my book. Mani out of all the women so far looked the oldest but was still young. For someone who's not into counting he can sure stay with the twenty sumthing age bracket with the exclusion of Mayte....well hell maybe even Bria. I know this is probably more of an ego thing for him because he's a man, but geesh how long will this next lil piece of arm candy be around. What would blow me away is him breaking from the "type".
I wish I could morph all the woman he's been with with this look to see what "THAT" woman would look like. That would be probably freaky as hell "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

Zelijah - I am sorry but I have to provide additional information to everyone stating this person is making "history". I think everyone needs to do their research rather than reading information obviously being spun by a promotions campaign.
True Ballet History - Janet Collins, the first black prima ballerina to appear at the Metropolitan Opera and one of a few black women to become prominent in American classical ballet in 1951.
There are much more to list - but my point is I am extremely not impressed by someone who implies they are someone making "history" when they should be thanking the true pioneers who suffered to open doors.
I would suggest you read information on Misty Copeland under http://en.wikipedia.org/w...y_Copeland
It appeared rather ignorant for Misty Copeland in her interview with Tavis Smiley to state she felt she was exposing to most of the people at Prince's concert the culture of ballet and to "People that have not seen ballet in their entire life." Well I don't know where she grew up but for her to make an assumption or imply that people who attend a Prince have not been exposed to ballet is a very condescending attitude. For her to stereotype concert attendees in that manner was very arrogant.
Additionally, during the Tavis interview she made comments such as she wants to inspire Black dancers to achieve dancing with "a dance company as prestigious as the American Ballet Theatre" and "a dance theatre of this caliber." It definitely gave the impression that dance companies such as the Dance Theatre of Harlem was not on "the level" (another phrase she threw out) of the American Ballet Theatre.
I will say this in summary. I definitely feel Misty Copeland is running a publicity campaign to take advantage of Prince's spotlight. I find it extremely sickening that she does not acknowledge who are the true pioneers in her field and at her young age of 29 appears to not have a clue of her own history or is trying to rewrite history to assist in her publicity. Based on my impressions of her public information and her interview, she appears to be someone who believes she is better than other people and will use anyone she has to for obtaining what she wants.
My impression is that Travis Smiley during his interview kept stating Prince's name to let her know in a diplomatic manner - she aint all that and the only reason she was most likely sitting on his show for an interview was because of Prince. Prince is an intelligent man and I am sure he is aware of the true motives of anyone who is around him.

Absolutely, and Prince sure looks happy with her.

Believe me, I agree with everything you say.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
and whether she made history as number 1, 2 or 3 makes no difference-the fact that she has done it and is doing it is what matters-beautiful.

Never thought i'd say this, but I'm official hatin' on Prince!!!

Unlike you, I don't suffer from blind support of an artist. If you aren't gay, your obsession with him is pretty sick. You talk about his semen in your signature and you got a pic of you lickin your lips in your profile.

No need to apologize, and yes, I did read about other Black dancers, that made history within majority-white balllet companies.Wikipedia is not something I would normally use as an educational source though. Also, how would you know if she did not get inspiration from earlier dancers who made history before her unless you know her personally to know this? I don't believe anyone here said Misty was the first Black Ballerina to make history, but just the first soloist, from what I've read with the "ABT".
I also didn't get that same impression she was "putting down" other dance companies like the the Dancer Theatre of Harlem or Alvin Ailey dance company, but more or less saying that Black dancers with an interest in ballet, can see themselves without limitations, when she stated she would like Black dancers to get into dance companies like ABT. Let's not play like everyone goes to the ballet, because they don't, so what she said about exposing people to that culture, who don't normally have an interest in ballet or who have never seen a ballet performance, was not a crime.
As far as you implying that she is using Prince's name to run a publicity campaign, well if Prince had an issue with that, I doubt Tavis would mention his name at all during the interview if that was the case. It seems he kept that to a minimum. I also don't agree with you that Tavis mentioned Prince's name in a "diplomatic manner" as you put it, to let her know "she's not all that". you're jumping hoops with that assumption, especially when Tavis is one of Prince's close friends, and it's clear Misty earned her way to the ABT without Prince. I think now that she is being seen with Prince, publically, there will be all kinds of assumptions/criticism about her, as we've seen with any female Prince associates himself with. Nothing new.

I think this is probably what Prince’s hair looks like when he isn’t wearing a hairpiece. It would certainly explain how he puts his hair through so much without going bald.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Prince looks fantastic here! His side profile reminds me of his side profile when he did Purple Rain!
And they both are wearing Purple!!!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly. I guess Misty better prepare herself for the critics, as far as her association with Prince, because it seems they're taking a bite out of her already. What else is new?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Oh, my. I don't know. Take a really close look at the hair on top and the hair around his temple and ear and even the front hairline. It seems the hair on top is thicker and darker and a different texture. I'm not hating, though. He still is fine, but age is creepinp up on him and he wears it well. I bet there are hundreds of 52 year old men who would give their eye teeth to look like him.

there is something wrong with Prince's hairstyle..could he be going bald?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
is it a fact that he does wear a hairpiece

Yep...they're out in full force but I think she is a strong minded young lady who can fight her own battles-she did just fine before meeting Prince so I'm sure she has what it takes to take on the Org haters too

Zelijah - I agree there is always assumptions about anyone associated with Prince and he is aware of that. I would also say that is another reason people should not make assumptions about anyone he is seen with publicly. I am also not using anything on the internet as an "educational" reference. The point is people should do their research before making assumptions about what is spun in the media in any sense about a person being accurate.

Not a super-duper ballet expert here myself, but I know a few things, and..
She says on her site that she's the first black soloist with ABT, which, is true. Now if she had said she was the first black principal with ABT, then you'd have grounds to complain.
There's the corps - all the dancers who form the majority of the company and pretty much do all the background dancing - think of the swans in a ballet like Swan Lake - that's the corps.
The soloists, are the ones who get to do some solo work and stand out and get attention - kinda like supporting actresses in a movie, and corps are the 'extras'.
The principals/prima ballerinas, are the ones who do the lead roles, and are really well known. A principal will dance Odette or Odile (or both) in something like Swan Lake ; or dance the lead role of Cinderella... Alina Cojocaru is a principal dancer; so was Gelsey Kirkland, Sylvie Guillem....Lauren Anderson, a black ballet dancer, was a principal at Housten Ballet if my memory serves me correctly. Carla Fracci was a principal dancer ; Anna Pavlova... basically, the household names of the ballet world.
...Why don't you just admit that you're just really pissed because Misty might be dating Prince, and you're jealous, so you're reading all this sinister intent into everything she says and does, that isn't there. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

Google up a few of the wife and/or girlfriend-related threads over the past couple years. The fammy types were slobbering out practically word for word the exact same fawny stuff about Bria, Mani, et al that they're now saying about Misty.
Countdown to the first "Misty is eating/doing/wearing(fill in the blank)! She must be pregnant!!!1" declaration! 3...2....1....

Exactly, I feel the same as u on this one. Prince got it right this time if they r a couple and hope they r .Prince will do the right thing. I hope she is feeling Prince because he deserves a special young lady to settle down with and hopefully she is the chosen one.
Misty is simply beautiful

I do believe he got it right this time! I mean unlike Mani/Bria she appears to have her own established career and let's hope she is not a fan and the only song she knows is The Beautiful One's" I find it interesting that people are just getting to know about this young lady and already trying to tear her down Comparing her to his other girlfriends looks, etc. and who gives a shit what was said about them on here! This young lady is a winner already in life and no one on the Org or elsewhere can change that. I hope they are happy.

That's strange because your original post is full of assumptions. You assumed some here did not research other African-Americans who accomplished a career in ballet --part of the ABT, before Misty, as well as, assuming that Misty saw other dance companies as not as prestigious as the ABT. If you're going to brag about "Telling the Whole Funk..." at least clean the stink out of it first, before telling others not to "assume". Have a good day. [Edited 2/28/11 11:20am]
