Idiot entertainers should never casually throw or launch heavy objects into an audience. Remember when a fan sued Rod Stewart for injuries sustained from a soccer ball that Rod kicked into the crowd at a gig? |

$740 of one ticket?
I'd have wanted to keep the damn guitar, too.
But BK, He made the choice of buying the tix at that price, without expecting a free guitar from it.
Prince is far from the first or the only artist to throw a guitar in the audience. Most every other artist knows the routine and follows it accordingly:
You switch guitars on the song you are going to give the guitar away on. A cheap Squier or Ibanez or even a lesser known brand like SX or something can be had for very little $.
You play a few chords on it and maybe a solo, then you unplug it and toss it. You don't toss a $10k Aurswald or something like that into the audience. As the guy said, its CUSTOMARY for the audience memebers to keep what gets thrown to them by performers. The guy is not the odd one - PRINCE IS, but fanbots around here are trying to make it seem the other way around.
Now dude may have been a bit unrealistic for asking for it after the show was over but at the moment, its a reasonable assumption. Only Prince fanbots who believe Prince is always right no matter what would think its outrageous to think that. Idolworship is not a good look.

http://kron4.com/Article....icleID=392 North Bay Man Recovering from Injuries Suffered at Prince Concert SAN RAFAEL (KRON) – A North Bay man is recovering from injuries he suffered at a Prince concert Wednesday evening. Perry Litchfield told KRON 4’s Terisa Estacio that while at the concert, Prince gave him his guitar and he’s not happy that stage crews took it back from him. “He tossed the guitar and I caught it. Then I was dragged to the ground, I don’t know what happened at that point. There were a lot of people around me then I realized I was bleeding on my hand,” Litchfield said. Litchfield showed cuts and bruises he suffered on his hand and back. A stage hand then walked over to the man and told him he needed the guitar back. When he went back to his seat, the person who took the guitar from him brought him a guitar pick. When the show was over, Litchfield went to the stage area and asked for the guitar back but was told no. “I really feel like I should have the guitar, I’m not dwelling on the injuries that happened, I’m concerned about the event and about the fact that I should have gotten that guitar,” Litchfield said.

The dude shouldn't been beaten up, but also should know better that the guitar wasn't his to keep. I mean come ON!
Prince should just apologize, give him a free ticket to a show and say goodnight. If not this slimy prick is going to sue...just watch. |

A casual fan cannot know the guitar was not to keep for him. And if an artist throws something into the audience he gives it away for good and it is not his anymore. It's the same as if you give somebody a present and then demand it back. If you don't want to give it away then don't do it. And I don't get it what is so great about touching that guitar and why he should be thankful for it. If he is just a casual fan he's probably not too interested in touching it. Agree with some parts of your post, Bk, but you know what, I think even if it was a less expensive guitar that would have been thrown, the guy still would have been mobbed by people trying to catch it, and even more if fans around him, knew it was for keeps. You see that same type of thing happen when a towel or tambourine is thrown into the audience at concerts, and people damn near stomping and kicking each other's ass to catch anything that belongs to Prince.
Might be best for P, if he no longer does this, to avoid situations like this.

Are you insulting yourself?
I mean: he caught the thing.
He gave it back and got a pick.
Then he went back to ask for the guitar.
How stupid is that?
Then don't return the guitar in the first place.
Right?
Next: you're at a show. The biggest things he gave away so far were towels and tambourines.
And you think that he will throw a guitar into the audience and forgte about it?
How much grasp of reality do you have about mr. I Pay My Taxes Late?
Have a read at http://motherjones.com/po...hart-graph and do some thinking by yourself about the reasons why P would act like that.
He probably felt intimitated by the securitiy and that's why he gave it back. Of course he should have known that it is extremely unlikely to get it back later. But as soon a Prince threw it into the audience he gave it away and had no right anymore to get it back. Question: Why does Prince throw his guitar into the audience?
Answer: To give the impression that he's giving it away.
Conclusion: Cheapskate. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP. |

I think it's odd that even though this guy spent $1480 on a Prince concert, he didn't know he couldn't keep the guitar. I'd say someone has to be pretty much a hardcore fan before they spend so much money on tickets, so he should know these kind of things.
Still think it's a stupid thing for Prince to do and he should stop it. And those morons who beat him up are out of their minds... You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind? |

If he is a casual fan, he took the opportunity of catching the guitar didn't he? The guitar tech told him he had to give it back, but never told the guy he could retrieve the guitar after the concert was over, but the guy apparently assumed because he caught it, that it belonged to him. Now of course, it is unfortunate the guy got bruised and banged by other fans trying to take the guitar away from him, and it could have been worse, but once the tech came and took it away, it was obvious it was not for keeps. This may be a wakeup call for Prince to omit that from his shows, to avoid some fans who catch the guitar, thinking it's for keeps. [Edited 2/25/11 11:57am] |

The first time I read that he threw his guitar to a fan I thought, "Whew, he's lucky they caught it."
Prince is taking a big risk each time he tosses his guitar to a fan.
It's cool, but risky.
This guy though, annoys me.
