What a pussy. Everyone's so lawsuit happy here in the US, worst thing that ever happened to us.
Made us into a bunch of whiney little bitches. 'Oh I got wrestled to the ground and got scratched'.
Welcome to front row of any concert I've been to.

Well, if you want to resist the system that made stuff like this stupidity commonplace, you know what to do.
You are the resistance.
Because Bart Van Halen is not named that way on the org. And not so in real life.
And how many foeign laguages do you speak and write flawlessly?
Uh, I don't speak any "foeign" languages. I said Bart was smarter than I was in my post. If I spoke 45 languages, I would not slip, and allow my signature to note my posts are not authorized by an NPGMC that doesn't exist. To prove Bart his more intelligence, my signature says it is not authorized by Controversy Magazine. I also would not make it clear that I hate every Prince recording in the last 20 years, and spend so much time posting here. For example, I am barely holding on as a Bruce Springsteen fan, but won't waste my time on the BS message boards. Writing idiot posts on a BS site will not make him produce music I will like.
Of course, unlike Bart, I like most of Prince's studio recordings in the last 20 years. I only bitch about Prince playing too many cover songs live, and having female background singers doing too
much in the show sometimes....and of course, his awful dumb business practices. |

As someone who has watched every episode of Sanford And Son, that is "Blind Mello Jelly." I almost turned into Bart Van Halen, and said..."For Fuck's Sake, it is Blind Mello Jelly." But I am not as smart as Bart, so I won't do it. The show was a strange tribute to Blind Lemon Jefferson, a fairly unknown Blues Artist from the 1920's.

Ummm, no.
Fred introduced Bubba to the shop owner as "Blind Mellow Jr." in an effort to get his Blind Mellow Jelly records back.
Bubba kept saying "I want my daddy's records" because he was pretending to be the "son" of Blind Mellow Jelly.
Btw, it's BartVanHemelen,
Back on topic, by now I'm sure it has dawned on pinhead that his fifteen minutes are up and he won't be getting anything out of this debacle but a guitar pick, Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise. |

Amazing that someone could not understand this. If I hand the cashier a 20 for my $6 purchase, can the cashier logically infer that the rest of the twenty is a gift to them?
Or if you go out to eat and at the end you stack up the plates and whatnot and try to walk out with them.
'Sides... you just know that if he actually got the guitar, it'd be up on eBay before you could say "Money Don't Matter 2night".
I would never put it on ebay, I would talk it to a real auction house. and get real big money for it. if it was the tortoiseshell hohner guitar he has played for 30+ years it is worth ten of thousands.

Uh, settle down Beavis. If you really have been wrestled down to the ground and scratched at every concert you've had front row, then you must be going to different concerts than I have, and you must be pretty weak. As far as the idiot goes, as far as I know, he's a dumb little bitch that wanted the guitar, no proof he is going to court over it.
And as far as Prince should not STOP doing this? Are you insane? People bring their children to concerts, and a small child could get hurt seriously or even killed if there is a mob of people fighting for a guitar thrown.
Prince should have common sense that he could get sued...either by a dumb little bitch like our guitar catching hero here....or sued by someone with a real legitimate claim. Prince won't even take a demo tape from someone due to fear of getting sued, but he will throw a guitar in the crowd? Well..this is the same guy who let Tony M in the studio, and in the band, so stupid decisions are nothing new to him. I love Prince, but he's like the crazy Uncle who means well, but
still screws things up every now and then. |

I'm not very smart. I did not read it that way. Good Catch. I always thought it was Bart Van Halen, but I guess I got so confused by his hate for Prince's output from 1990-2010, that I lost my will to read. |

I think some of you may have missed Genesia's post upthread (#225) since some still think this jerk got beat up:
"This man is lying. I was one of 5 people who caught the guitar. It was not handed to anyone. There was no eye contact. There was no frenzy until he initiated it. He screamed it's mine and yanked so that 2 girls let go but I had the middle and another man the top and he pulled us all down to the ground - he hurt himself and me as well in his antics. I have bruises and cuts.No one beat him. No one touched him. Just three of us with a good hold on the guitar that was tossed to a group of us within heavy security."
"I was at this show and was one table behind this guy. I actually have a picture of the guitar in the air. He caught the guitar and fell backwards as he was trying to hold onto it. Then he landed on his back hitting his left shoulder on the base of one of the tables. I did not see anyone beating on him at all, just fans holding onto the guitar. The gentleman behind him was actually trying to help him up....no fan beating took place." |

Hopefully, the cashier would try to get your attention to make sure that's the case and/or give it back to you if it's not but they certainly would not give it to the next three people in line trying to grab it. Nor would they give to some random person who saw everything, that walks up and says they work for you. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart. |

I think a happy solution would be if the person who caught the guitar gets to play a riff and if its any good (ie as good as P) then he can keep the guitar but only if P and the rest of the audience agree !!!
for me personally I would be happy to touch it but got clouds and hohner at home so not that bothered - sorry if that sounds smug |

Prince always throws his guitar to a fan or stage hand any real fan knows this. Obviously this man wasn’t a fan. But this time Prince couldn’t find his stage hand and decided to throw it to a fan instead. But he always have someone retrieve it almost immediately..Too bad this man got beaten in the process.I wouldn't mind having that 20TEN guitar pick though....
[Edited 2/25/11 18:14pm]
Prince obviously mistakenly assumed because of this man's obvious age that he would understand the unwritten law that the guitar is returned to him and perhaps would appreciate the gesture - the shame is that P may stop doing this - however much that would be the sensible thing to do - the shame is that we have lost gift that is trust - the trust is gone - shame - i'v seen the future and boy its ...... well its not good thanks to people like this misguided rich fool |

Just because you know the rules doesn't mean everybody else has to know the rules.
So if a kid ( Which Prince has invited to his concerts) caught the guitar and didn't give it up, and
was beatin down for it by psycho Prince fanatics. That's ok because he should've known the rules. (PLEASE!)
I'm a BIG Prince fan but whats right is right, and whats wrong is wrong. Prince needs to stop being cheap and give up the damn guitar. People have died at concerts from being trampled over.
He's playing with peoples lives. I didn't know you had to follow so many rules just to be entertained
at a concert.
I could be wrong but I seem to remeber an age limit at P's concert so no children think you have to be over 21 !! no kids allowed |

This incident happened on the 3rd show's night though, so the tix they offered him stated for "the next night," according to the article. Seems the writer made a mistake in his report, since there was no Prince concert the next night, on Friday, Feb., 25th, and there was a basket ball game scheduled at the arena the next night. Could be the writer meant to state Litchfield was offered a ticket to a future Prince concert.
[Edited 2/27/11 9:50am]
Oooh, ok, I thought it happened on 2/23.
Actually, I stand corrected, you're right. It did happen on 2/23. I looked at the video again, and saw the date on the guy's ticket states Wed, 2/23, when he held it up in the video. [Edited 2/27/11 14:50pm] |

The part that logically explains..if it's not a guitar give away. Why then exactly...does he arbitrarily throw it into the audience and walk away...with absolutely no regard?

All he received is a damn pic, and people here thinks he should've been greatful.
I would've told Prince to shove it up his ass!
On second thought I would've taken the pic but felt very dissapointed.
Prince can save himself from many lawsuits by giving up the guitar.
A fan would be greatful just having the guitar, despite havng a near death experience.
One guitar a show want bankrupt him. Most rock artists thrash their guitar after every show.
I can see absolutely no reason why P should give his guitar away to anyone - let alone a fair weather fan, but there is only one hohner and its very old and is probably his prize possession so why you say does he throw it out ? - for showmanship, show business, rock n roll, it is usually caught by tech - and maybe just as a thrill for a fan this rather stupid man did not appear to understand this - shame on him |

Here's an example, just happend about an hour ago.....
I bought a Latte from Whole Foods; it cost $2.75. I gave the cashier $3 and walked away.
Prior to giving me the drink she asked "did you want you're change?" and she held up the $0.25, I told her no.
This guy needs to sit down! The witnesses nullify his story (which sounded bogus from the jump).
