Utterly unreasonable. I almost had a dozen heart attacks with each guitar solo. You don't see me asking the cricket to offer me some sort of compensation...Be thankful you got to hold it. It's the same as if you give somebody a present and then demand it back. If you don't want to give it away then don't do it. And I don't get it what is so great about touching that guitar and why he should be thankful for it. If he is just a casual fan he's probably not too interested in touching it.

Agree with some parts of your post, Bk, but you know what, I think even if it was a less expensive guitar that would have been thrown, the guy still would have been mobbed by people trying to catch it, and even more if fans around him, knew it was for keeps. You see that same type of thing happen when a towel or tambourine is thrown into the audience at concerts, and people damn near stomping and kicking each other's ass to catch anything that belongs to Prince.

Might be best for P, if he no longer does this, to avoid situations like this.

He probably felt intimitated by the securitiy and that's why he gave it back. Of course he should have known that it is extremely unlikely to get it back later. But as soon a Prince threw it into the audience he gave it away and had no right anymore to get it back.

I think it's odd that even though this guy spent $1480 on a Prince concert, he didn't know he couldn't keep the guitar. I'd say someone has to be pretty much a hardcore fan before they spend so much money on tickets, so he should know these kind of things.

If he is a casual fan, he took the opportunity of catching the guitar didn't he? The guitar tech told him he had to give it back, but never told the guy he could retrieve the guitar after the concert was over, but the guy apparently assumed because he caught it, that it belonged to him. Now of course, it is unfortunate the guy got bruised and banged by other fans trying to take the guitar away from him, and it could have been worse, but once the tech came and took it away, it was obvious it was not for keeps. This may be a wakeup call for Prince to omit that from his shows, to avoid some fans who catch the guitar, thinking it's for keeps.

True. I'm wondering if this was that guy's first Prince concert, because if he's attended one before, I don't think there's too many shows where Prince does not do that. So if the guy has seen him do this before, then he had to be aware it wasn't for keeps. If it was the guy first concert, then I could see him thinking it was for keeps.

Maybe he has been to Prince concerts in the past, but not recently. He's not that young, so it could be . I have been to about 50 Prince concerts in my life and I don't recall for sure if Prince ever threw his guitar into the audience at any of these shows . It could be that it happened once or twice, but I don't think more often. So if he does it now all the time that doesn't mean that every Prince fan must know about it.

The first time I read that he threw his guitar to a fan I thought, "Whew, he's lucky they caught it."

Prince is taking a big risk each time he tosses his guitar to a fan.

My answer to your other post would fit better to this one . Like I said there Prince may do that NOW all the time, but it's not that he used to do all his life. And I don't think he did it at his show I saw last summer .
