The Next New Power Generation

I was thinking... with 2day's music world. there's not that much 2 offer when it comes 2 quality in music. It seems as if almost everybody is in it for all the wrong reasons and making uneffective music. As a musican myself I would like make a few changes on how it is in the music world, but one of those things I would like 2 do is introduce Prince and his music 2 a whole new different generation. I know Prince is not really in2 the whole commercial act anymore, but I think it's important 2 show the young generation just how important Prince music is 2 the industry. Cuz I mean if u think about it, Prince has inspired so many different types of people that u see 2day in the music scene. He has inspired everbody from D'angelo 2 The Neptunes and basically the sounds of Prince music is the very essence of this so called Neo Soul Music. Kids are listening 2 Angei Stone without even realizing ... it's inspired by the purple one himself. I guess the point in which I am trying 2 make is, if u could introduce Prince music 2 a whole new different, generation how would u go about doing so?

Would u give the refference of music 2 listen 2
Would u tell them Boring stories about the good times u had with Prince music
Would take them 2 the shows
Would u Make the CD's and make them listen 2 it...
I mean how would do what seems like such a big task?

He's gotta be more flexable within the hip hop community as far as sampling goes (protect his art at the same time).

If the next generation dig a hip hop artist with a Prince sample, that would get them 2 get deeper into Prince's music.

Back in the 80's and early '90's, Hip Hop used alot of the James Brown and Funkadelic samples, which made me go out, find the originals and appreciate the legacy.

How many kids 2day know Beyonce's lines in the Jay Z song is that of Prince's??? Majority don't.

Id think the comeback will either be through hip hop samples or a DJ mix of a Prince song (kinda like how Elvis made a 'Comeback' last year with a remix)

I think it's not up to the consumers to bring artists under the attention of new listeners.

I'm afraid that the only ones who can bring Prince back to his rightful throne are the media. But, is it me, or is it correct to say that the media tend to support only new, commercial acts and fail to see 'the bigger picture'? If e.g. MTV did see 'the bigger picture' they would pay more attention to people like Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Elvis Prestley, etc. MTV would not only show commercial videos, but much more live documents and documentaries.

IMO, this is the way Prince and many other true artists that have proven their worth are to be acknowledged. I live in Belgium, but I say snippets of the television show that was dedicated to the NYFD, with musical guests like Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen... Shows like these are good alternatives to the over-commercialized award shows with bare-assed over-produced anti-artistic rich chicks or post-aggressive 'I'm cool and my mother treated me badly so I will treat my girlfriend likewise' rappers who think that, by recieving yet another award, they are really good musicians. Pu-leazze.

Just my opinion of course...

I will most likely guide children towards good music, and away from anything with 'NPG' on it

yes Prince SHOULD do this!
after all, isnt Santana getting horrible reviews 4 this album,
the music is just aiming at commercial succes,
with guest like 2day's top40 'artists' 2 have the kids half interested...

oh yeah,really good idea
rolleyes

if Prince wants 2 put it out there 4 everyone 2 c,he will.
i do my bit,the other day,burnt a Silverchair album 4 a mate's girlfriend...
put some really wild prince gutar stuff, like Joy from ONAlive on there...
& she wanted a seperate Prince mix,so i SensualEverafter on there with a couple of ONALive hits trax, along with
all the hits she wanted...just 2 mix it up.

the ppl who r really responsible r the boneheads
like RollingStone & MTV who know fuck all about REAL MUSIC,yet
they r our youth's source 4 music information.
it's sad isnt it.
