Interactive

I remember a cd-rom being released. I never viewed it now I wish I did? Anyone remember it? Was the song Interactive included?

Yes, Interactive was on it.

It's also a different version than what was on Crystal Ball.

The computer graffics are meh, and the video was typical Gold Experience band-in-a-small-stage type of thing,

but I liked it enough.

I like the 93 NPG/Prince period. shrug

You're a real fucker. You act like you own this place--ParanoidAndroid <-- about as witty as this princess gets! lol
I hope everyone pays more attention to Sags posts--sweething mushy

I remember buying this twice.

The first disc I thought was defective.

Trying to get all the pieces to the symbol was pretty hard back then.

Playing it now would probably bring back too many memories of the Lotus site.lol

The 3 unreleased songs (at the time) were Interactive, Endorphninmachine and Race I think.

And just to clarify, only Interactive could be played in a CD player. The other tracks were videos/items of interest within the 'game'.

The version of Endorphinmachine on the cd rom kicks ass!

What's the difference between the "Interactive" on the game and the one on Crystal Ball?

the "interactive" on the cd rom has the npg operator segue in the middle:

"that was just an example of the many experiences the dawn has 2 offer, if u would like 2

continue the interactive experience, please press come"

then continues with the "i'll work twice as hard" bit, followed by the solo and the end.

but the crystal ball version doesn't have that, instead the song is longer and has more

lyrics on the crystal ball version.

hurry baby, hook me up in2 ur box

no no, i don't need the keys 2 the lock

etc etc

also that silly "are you ready?" shout isn't at the beginning of the interactive cdrom version

Thanks for clearing that up! thumbs up!

I always thought "Interactive" should've opened The Gold Experience instead of "P Control". I'm sure it was probably on one of the configurations.

I have the CD-ROM without the song Interactive that was playable on normal CD players.

The program is the same though. It was part of a $99 bundle with dozens of other discs . . . my dad saw the symbol and got the bundle just to get that for me.

I don't have a computer with an OS old enough to "play" it anymore, but I can search through the file structure to find the videos and songs. It's amazing how small the videos are and how low bitrate the songs are now, since they were really good at the time.

I just can't believe all the things people say !

If it's the version I think it is, it's just more stripped down than the one on The Gold Experience. There is no cowbell and the guitars are more in the foreground.

yeah you're right, "interactive" makes a great opening song to the gold experience.

It was prety simple to play or beat

You could see everything in the game (Beat it) within an hour

If you took longer then an hour it was because 1 puzzle was tricky

Bascily you explored rooms trying to fing all the prince symbols to unlock a video

You could also bypass the game and go straight to the end

There are a few puzzle games, video clips.

The graphics are dated and sound, video quality is very now, but it was cool for its time

The highlights are

Kiss (instrumental karaoke) With a slightly extended ending

Race (Mixing board) You could mix a 4 track version of the song

Interactive & Endorphinmachine videos

Love Life,
Love God,
And Only Do Drugs You Need

There's my bundle copy! I know it holds no financial value, and it isn't really "playable" anymore, but I can't part with it.

I much prefer the version of the track Interactive itself here than on CB, I just always dug that NPG Operator break, so cool.

It's fun to put the CD-ROM in and look through the various filed. There are tons of things that sound way better on it than on the official CDs--like Tamborine (even though it's not the full version)--and samples and backgrounds and things like Loose without vocals and Race acapella.

Someday I'll have to sort through it all and see if there's more stuff I'd like to pull outta there.

I really liked the NPG Operator segues - they were used very well on TGE; not too imposing and served to tie the songs together. I especially like the segues that are somewhat distorted.

I had hoped that Prince would continue using the segues for a little longer, even just one more album.
