Dudley do not wrong if Nell just let him kick it (Gett Off) This may be purple blasphemy but I have grown to dislike the original version of Gett Off...but the remix with the extended rap is badass (still!) imo. Prince at his lascivious best talkiing about fuckin her with her feet in the drawers, in the bathroom with her holding on to the towel rod etc. This si one of the decent "raps" he does akin to irresistabkle Bitch. The cadence onomonopea portion 'butterscotchcurly hair wish you had some drawers on stone bcold freak to the bone part" is...damn
and bringing up Dudley Do Right as a culture reference...

the album/single version is quite a bore compared to the extended one. was really disappointed that the longer version (or *A* longer version, like the video, for instance) wasn't on the album.

errant said: the album/single version is quite a bore compared to the extended one. was really disappointed that the longer version (or *A* longer version, like the video, for instance) wasn't on the album. I initially loved the album version but it became too much/too heavy. At least the single had all the other versions

Here´s a pic of Dudley ( and Nell...she´s stroking the horse in the pic).

Off-topic...great use of vocabulary! But isn't onomonopea where the word describes the sound that it makes, e.g. buzz? I don't see/hear examples of that in the lyrics unless I'm missing something.
On-topic... I agree with you about the song that P is at his "lascivious best" for sure!! (Another great word, by the way!)

I had a Dudley Do Right watch when I was in high school. It was so cool, I wish I still had it!

You're right. I thought it had to do with the cadence of the word(s) but I am wrong. Good catch.

Yeah, but what about "Get Off" (one T)? B-side to New Power Generation.
That's the real original, and Gett Off (two Ts) actually samples it.

which part? | |

Yeah, I'm stumped too.
It copies one of the synth hooks (on Gett off, just before Prince does his 'ha-ha-ha' bit near the end) but it's not a sample, as it's performed on Guitar I think. blah blah blah

I think it was on the Peach & Black Podcast that they were referring to Get Off (one T) as the "original" as well.
Aside from the title and the repetition of it throughout the song, I hear nothing in common. Maybe the tongue-click as well. Other than that, two completely different songs that have very little to do with each other. And Gett Off (two T's) grew out of a completely different song (new lyrics for Glam Slam set to the music of Love Machine).
